My biggest takeaway is that someone above Bamford is not happy with Frank's sideline antics and made him do this press conference to apologize, which turned into Frank story time. Reyes? Meehan?
Yeah, that's what I got out of it as well. The whole display was incredibly disheartening, but also totally expected. So much to be upset about.
As a frequent Frank Martin critic, I want to give him a little credit for talking about and apologizing for his unacceptable behavior, which is beyond your run-of-the-mill coach yelling. Last offseason, I thought that he sounded like a man that reflected on his failures, including his behavior, and was determined to change. I was optimistic heading into last year. When he said that he made a promise to Bamford last offseason to be better, I believed him, and I believe that he wants to be better going into next season as well. The problem is that he's not capable, or at least hasn't shown that he's capable.
More problematic than his behavior is the losing and constant excuse making. Whining about how expensive it is to travel to MAC schools, "learning" the league, "We're building the plane as we fly it", you've got to be kidding me with that shit. The plane line from Bamford is a fireable offense.
We're far beyond the point of press conferences and word salad. It's put up or shut up time for both of these guys.
