I just don't see the school hiring him (assuming he's even interested). They'd be too worried about the backlash.
Give WBB more money.

We belong back in a lesser high profile series, playing the likes of other NE state schools. With the student enrollment the largest in NE, by far, you'd think we could recruit/develop some high quality athletes. Hasn't happened in a LONG time. Can't compete with the big boys!
Kirby wants to make a statement today, could be sad.

Idk, could Shane Montgomery continue on as head coach? The team looks good in the first half of the Georgia game.

Was thinking the same but he hasn't proven much as a HC. If he were to be interviewed they should demand he replaces the whole defensive staff. The brown defensive has passed.

Respect to our guys. The offense doing a great job and Montgomery making some good calls. I think that we’ve got two good quarterbacks. Makes you wonder if they shouldn’t have been playing more earlier in the season.

2 young QBs potentially could be back as well as 3 primary RBs. Some good talent

Adding in a thread from miamihawkfans on Shane Montgomery. See the post, his staff was inexperience and there were budget constraints. Now that he is seasoned, perhaps he could be the guy.

Got to know Shane when he was at Miami, great person. I think given a different situation he could have been a good head coach. With his offense though look for lots of wide receiver screens and short passes to backs out of the back field, lots of dink and dunk.

I don’t know if Shane ever would have been cut out for being a head coach, but I do know the opportunity he got here was absolutely the wrong one.

The staff Shane assembled here in Oxford was remarkable for it’s inexperience. My recollection is that every coach but one was either moving from position coach to coordinator or was stepping up into the FBS from a lower division.

To what extent that was a product of budgetary constraints or Shane’s choices I do not know. Even before Shane’s first season there were posters on this board that were very concerned by the staff.

As a coordinator here he was excellent and I don’t have any reason to think he won’t be successful in Amherst as well.

UMass fans already falling prey to the latest shiny object to come across their field of vision. Let’s go through the process and finally hire the right guy. Not hire a guy that is here, has sentimental value, ties to the program, etc.

^ Ditto. How much of yesterday was his coaching, and how much was pure adrenaline from playing in a packed UGA stadium after a turbulent week?

It sounded like most people on here wanted an up and coming younger coach who showed success at the FCS level. Now we're giddy about a 57-yr old former head coach with a 17-31 record in the MAC? If the excuse for poor results the first time around was program constraints, what makes anyone think that would be better at UMass? UMass is a constraint in and of itself.

I think we should go in a different direction but if they beat UConn and put up 35 points, it should at least be a conversation. My only requirement would to be clean house on the defensive side.. need a new scheme and a new staff.. does he have those connections to make it happen?? Im.not sure. That's why you take a winner that's already a HC and you take the whole staff.

Please find a coach who is a winner on the way up. The offense looked good yesterday because they finally had mobile QBs. That they had to wait until Puma was injured to make the change shows that both Brown and/or Montgomery was stubborn or clueless. It took an injury to finally get the center position away from Atwood and let him play better at guard. UMass football needs to be fumigated. No to Montgomery.

He was recruited by Whip and signed by Bell. Brown didn't recruit one DT worth a shit in three years.
