Re: Head Coach Search 2024
Looking at the potential coaches that have been posted, I'm glad we are looking at coaches that have played and or coached in New England.
Santos is interesting, a Ma guy, who played and coaches at UNH. His record at UNH doesn't give me too much hope considering where we are and the changes that are about to take place.
Brown as well, a Ky guy, but played and coached at UMass and seems to still have loyalty to UMass. WVU has underperformed this year and are 5-5. I think the article is spot on, I don't see WVU retaining for next year. So he should be available. Having B12 coaching exp and taking a step down to the MAC at his alma mater to right the program seems like a good pick if we can get him.

I don't want to rain on your parade DD, but We have no clue who the school is looking at or plans to look at. None of us posting here have any say in who they consider.devildawg3010 wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 2:19 pm Looking at the potential coaches that have been posted, I'm glad we are looking at coaches that have played and or coached in New England.

I understand that. I just read the articles posted here and responded. Not sure how it came off, but I was just whistling in the breeze.
Re: Head Coach Search 2024
While we wait to see who our next coach is I would be happy if we landed Neal Brown and he hired Brian Smith as his Associate HC/DC. Brian has built the Rice defense into a top 25 defense in the country. Rice fired their coach a few weeks ago so Brian could be available.

PER SOURCES: UMass AD Ryan Bamford WILL be leading the search for the new UMass Football head coach
As things stand right now, there are no plans to move on from Bamford, and he will look to hire the 3rd coach in his tenure with UMass

Re: Head Coach Search 2024
RB has to have pictures on Marty Meehan, how someone this incompetent gets a third shot at it is beyond comprehension.
Webster’s Dictionary defines insanity by stating, Letting Ryan Bamford to continue hiring football coaches.

I think Bamford is in those pictures with Meehan at this point. Even in the South they would still fire the AD, and not care about the pictures after failing Twice on football hires.wmmmfan wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 8:29 am RB has to have pictures on Marty Meehan, how someone this incompetent gets a third shot at it is beyond comprehension.

So, assuming this is accurate (and I believe it), it's time for a press conference by Bamford and Reyes to discuss the dismissal, next steps for the search, and long term plans related to Football. If the Ryan and University leadership are this confident in his/their direction, they should absolutely be speaking out about it and providing everyone associated with the University what their plan is to fix this. Ideally Meehan would be part of this as well.
I, of course, do not expect this to happen. But it sure as shit should.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

My view of Coach Shane Montgomery improved some listening to the Monday press meeting.

This article was a big tease as well. Would love Neal Brown being a current HC and being able to bring some people with him. Of course it depends if UMass can pay up for him along with a lot of other factors.
Makes me wonder if Chancellor Reyes has some inside information on Coach Neal's fate at WV. Would UMass pay up in the same manner as Coach Martin 2M, well over any MAC coach by a large margin.

https://voiceofmotown.com/report-neal-b ... -at-umass/UMass Chancellor Javier Reyes crossed paths and was very involved with Neal Brown at West Virginia, and the Paul Gorham Auditorium inside of the Martin Jacobson Football Performance Center was donated by Neal Brown and his wife Brooke.¨
...
Today, Chris Vannini of The Athletic formed a list of potential head coaches who could end up at UMASS and Brown once again appeared on the list. “West Virginia head coach Neal Brown wouldn’t leave Morgantown for UMASS, but if the Mountaineers make a change and Brown becomes available, maybe this could be a fit. Brown played at UMASS for two years and spent a year on staff. He went 35-16 as Troy’s head coach, and he’s 36-34 at West Virginia right now.”
Although the common thought is that Brown wouldn’t leave West Virginia for UMASS and take a tremendous paycut, you have to remember that this is his alma mater we’re talking about. He has a relationship with the UMASS Chancellor Javier Reyes, the auditorium inside the football facility was donated by Brown and his wife, Brooke, and probably most importantly, it would give him an opportunity for a fresh start at a place that he’s familiar with. I understand those who are hesitant to believe that this could happen, but the West Virginia fanbase no longer wants Neal Brown and I’m certain he feels that. Returning to his alma mater as a hero who could revitalize the football program could be very appealing for him.

You could bring Jesus H Christ in here but if you continue to NOT spend on the infrastructure all you might get is completions on a few extra Hail Mary's each season.

Why the fuck would Javier Reyes have inside information on college football? Steve, somehow, you are getting dumber and dumber with every post. Don't say because he was once upon a time the Dean of Economics at WVU.Makes me wonder if Chancellor Reyes has some inside information on Coach Neal's fate at WV. Re: Head Coach Search 2024
Neal Brown is making $4 million a year so he's not coming here unless he's fired and can collect his buyout.
Re: Head Coach Search 2024
Fire Bamford AND Reyes. Pathetic.
Retarded artistically. Idiotic in other respects.
