And St. Louis to lose to the Play In Winner also! Hope the A10 plays like it was snubbed and makes a few teams go deep so the A10 fills up the cash register.bharms08 wrote:gary parrish picks us to lose to iowa/tennessee

Chris, are you still going to do a UMass opponent watch for the NIT and CBI games?Chris20 wrote:SeaDog, It was a pleasure. Not sure there was much to learn, but I enjoy watching the opponents games with a good idea of what the results mean to us.
New Mexico, PC, Nebraska really helped us maintain the profile for that seed....I'll probably be pulling for them in the Dance - I can't just flip a switch and turn it off!

Just realized that we played Tennessee early last season in the 3rd place game of the Puerto Rican Tip Off - they beat us handedly. Jarnell Stokes lit it up against us and he is still on their team. Iowa is just as tough. Not even sure who I would want to play, but hope that whoever it is needed a 4OT game to do it on Weds night, they miss their plane and have to sleep at the airport, their bus breaks down and they miss warmups for our game with them.
It could happen, right?

They go hand-in-hand. You have to pick some upsets. Our 6-11 game will be a 3 point spread at most.
That said, our seed is not too high....unless you put a great deal of weight on "last 10". We beat NCAA teams out of conference and in, in true road games and neutral. Texas and UConn have an argument, but not a real beef. Lunardi had Gonzaga two seeds ahead of us. That really calls his brain into question if you look at the bodies of work.
UConn's biggest plus was their win over Florida - but Florida was not healthy in that game, missing a key guy and losing Wilbekin during it. I believe the committee does dig that deeply.
I don't think we were gifted anything with seeding. Nor am I offended that many are picking us to lose...though it's a little annoying that they don't even know who they're picking to beat us....

Six A10 teams in the NCAA's. Zero A10 teams in any other postseason tourney. I'd have to assume Richmond turned down a chance to play in the CBI or CIT. Thought St. Bonnie might get into one of those. La Salle I don't think was eligible because of their sub .500 record.

Indiana, Maryland, Marquette, UNLV, Boise State all turned down CBI invites.

Hire Matt McCall!
That NM win was obv huge. Looking back NM came so close to losing to UAB in Charleston. Twice UAB seemingly had that game won both in regulation and in the first OT only to have NM hit two game tying 3 pointers.
That close to not having that huge win on the resume'.
