http://www.masslive.com/sports/republic ... thispage=2In the 2007 calendar year, UMass leads Boston College 9-2-1. The only losses were in football (a competitive 24-14 defeat to a Division I-A team), and women's swimming (153-147).
This calendar year, the Minutemen are 3-0-1 against BC in hockey. And the UMass men's soccer team, which will play in the NCAA semifinals Friday, knocked off the No. 1-seeded Eagles 2-1 on Nov. 28.
Game 9: Boston College
Best thing I've read all day:

Aren't we still in the 2007 Calendar year however?

A little blurb on the game from CBS sportsline's Gary Parrish

Not a big Parrish fan, but no arguments here.
Notable game scheduled for Wednesday: UMass has been all over the place this season, beating Syracuse at the Carrier Dome only to lose by double-digits to IUPUI three days later. I mean, IUPUI is a good Summit League team, and I have a special place in my heart for the school after being on campus all those years for the Nike All-America Camp. But no self-respecting Atlantic 10 program should beat Syracuse and lose to IUPUI in the same week, meaning UMass now needs to make up for that bad defeat, and this trip to Boston College provides a good opportunity. UMass is 6-2. BC is 7-1. Tip-off is 9 p.m. (ET).

Game
I unfortunately remember the last time I went to Conte Forum to see a Umass/BC game , I think it was 5 or so years ago and we played BC tough on the road but ended up losing at the end in a heartbreaker. I haven't seen a game at the Conte Forum since.
I'm bringing this up because it was a typical Umass moment after Calipari left this program. We narrowed the deficit down to one and with only a few seconds left, the BC inbounder throws a pass right through the hands of Rahiem Lamb (who was right underneath the basket and would of easily scored to win the game). Instead we went on to lose and I had to listen to drunk obnoxious BC snobs the entire way out.
Fast Forward to today were I am hoping that this new Umass team, under the leadership of a great coach, can erase that bitter memory and finally beat BC. I would like nothing more than to see Gary Forbes and CLowe light it up and bring home a W.

I agree and im my opinion 'Cuse would wreck Boston College.uz2b-len wrote:I'm really optimistic about this game because I think we're gonna get pumped up for this game like we did for Syracuse, and run, run, run. When you've got Clowe and Ricky Harris pushing it to the hoop and kicking it out all night, you're putting a lot of pressure on the opponents opponents.

I agree! BC is much better than CUSE and should be in the top 25. Don't be surprised if a win tonight doesn't push them in with St Marys losing. Though I don't think they can keep up with UMASS style of play, providing they're making shots. I'm still looking for that next player to start making shots. If Groebe can it going or Correia shows more of his offensive skills, it will add to the style of play.
It's all about syle of play. 'Cuse plays like we do, fast except they have an inside advantage also. BC plays a slower style and this is why I think we have a good chance tonight as 'Cuse would if they were to meet.throwdown wrote:chlaur1 wrote:Based on what? Most people are only 1 week ahead of him. On the other hand, it has been pointed out that news works not because it's news, but because it's what people expect. It's in fact, olds. Ronnie just decides that something has reached the point that it confirms everyone else's well-established insights, and then writes it down. It's a nice life.Rocks22 wrote:

There are some people that if they don't know, you can't tell 'em. L. Armstrong
The reason why we will have a tough time tonight is because BC does slow the game down, is patient and is a strong rebounding team. They slowed the game down against maryland the other night, which is why they won. BC, I believe, would easily dismantle Syracuse. Hey, I hate them as much as the next guy, but this is far from chopped liver we are playing here tonight.umass1234 wrote:It's all about syle of play.
