Re: Game 10, 2025: Northern Illinois (11/12)
I really do not mind shooting off the fireworks. Got to celebrate any success you have. The kids work hard, it is too bad most of them should not be on a college football team but that is not their fault but the fault of the coach (who needs to go bye bye) and the worthless gm of football ...

Re: Joe Harasymiak New Coach!
This could be the biggest rebuild in the history of college football. It's not gonna happen in a year or two, and does the administration have the patience?
How did things get so bad?
So we get back on the "need patience" merry-go-round?
Then what that doesn't work, we start all over again.

Re: Game 10, 2025: Northern Illinois (11/12)
I know some people think I am just some anti-football guy. And it is what it is.
Today I take no joy in what has become of this program. Honestly last night was just a flat-out humiliation the likes of which even this program has not suffered before.
I think this is a futile proposition to ...

Re: Game 9: @ Akron (11/4)
I certainly do not recall being anti-football in 2009. I never liked Kevin Morris, but I hardly think I was alone in that position.
As I stated in other posts I have been "mostly" agnostic on Football (barring a few rants here and there), but this year when it really is starting to cannibalize ...

Re: Game 9: @ Akron (11/4)
You are VERY MUCH misremembering. I was on the sidelines in Chatanooga when UMass upset Georgia Southern. I travelled all over to watch and support that team. I did a lot of marketing work with the program under Whipple in my professional life as well. So, nothing could be farther from the truth ...

Thorr is the best, and if he were to become AD I would have hope for this department in way I have not in a long time.

Re: Game 9: @ Akron (11/4)
This would make more sense to me if UMass was still independent. UMass isn’t trying to compete with Oregon here. You’re telling me that schools like Eastern Michigan and Akron are going to fair better than UMass long term with NIL and the transfer portal?
Yes, that is what I am telling you ...

Re: Game 9: @ Akron (11/4)
Why are you tiny faithful for FBS, yet seeing a positive outcome, given the portal and Nil? We lose our best and gain the 'never-wills'/4th stringers in return. It's the very nature of a death spiral.
I watched for 15 mins and shifted to the Bruins for good, btw they won in OT.

Re: Game 6, 2025: @ Kent State (10/11)
Steve, again i do not disagree that most sports at most colleges lose money. What i want clarified is what would the real monetary coat be if football was dropped. Not hypothetical scare tactics like decreased donations etc. but cold hard numbers. And if they show as some claim that football ...

Re: Game 6, 2025: @ Kent State (10/11)
Title IX requires that opportunities for athletes accurately reflect the gender population of the school itself. According to the latest numbers I can find that is 47.7% male and 52.3% female. So, yes there would need to be financial accommodations made regarding female sports.

Re: Game 6, 2025: @ Kent State (10/11)
I'm a UConn fan so I have my own biases and motivations, but hear me out.
I do think UMass joining FBS has been an unmitigated disaster.
Here is what I would do:
1. Call the A-10 and beg to get back in
2. Can the football program
3. Reach out to the Big East and offer the following:
a ...

Re: Game 6, 2025: @ Kent State (10/11)
I truly believe we are just a $50 million dollar investment away from being a bowl team....it's guar-an-teed!
Correct. We just need more investment and a better stadium. Plus, MAC move was a game changer. Brought us stability.
Keep repeating it.....it may seem less ...

Re: Game 6, 2025: @ Kent State (10/11)
We were terrible in basketball in the early 80’s but 15 years later we were a final 4 team.
As the upcoming documentary says, we caught lightning in a bottle in landing Calipari, and the rest is history.
For football to get respectable, we either throw a lot of money at the problem, or get ...
