TF said in his postgame interview that he thinks that UMass will have the most fans at MSG. This team deserves it. Kudos to the fans who went to the Syracuse game. According to the television, it seemed like we were well represented.

Go UMass!

My older brother has season tix to the Gators. We just had a little friendly chit chat. Of course Florida has to win first.

It looks like everybody on the single bus that went out there got to sit behind the bench. When I called about the bus/tix package they couldn't tell me where the seats were going to be so I passed on it, figuring we'd be stuck on the 3rd level.

There were a bunch of fans behind the bench, but I think they also showed a shot of a bunch of students in the upper deck.

Just went to Ticketmaster.com and bought tickets for next week's game. You get 2 games for the price of one, but I'm hoping UMass plays at 7pm.

Just got 3 seats in section 223, center court. Plenty of great seats available.

Wonder if there is going to be any pre-game UMass Alumni reception or drinks at the bar down 7th Ave?!

Pretty unbelievable we're going to be watching UMass play basketball in April.

NIT!!!

Post by Butterfield76 » Tue Mar 25, 2008 9:21 pm

GREAT GAME and one of the best UMass games I've seen in a long time. I kept hoping throughtout the second half as they inched closer and closer. It was a gutsy effort by everyone but my vote goes to Dante Milligan. Sean McDonough was recounting the tragic story of his brother and the family's connection to MSG. Right on cue, Dante seemd to go off. He had defensive stops, the clutch bucket at the end, and stripped the last possession from Cuse. Pretty Nice!
On to MSG! As a freshman, in the 71-72 season, I went to the NIT at MSG. I think the team had Pitino, Endicott, Jim Town, Murphy, Alex Eldridge (?), Derek Claiborn, and of course Al Skinner. They may have had Mike Pyatt too. My memory could be a bit hazy. My apologies. Unfortunately, we were beaten in a thriller by Marquette, coached by Al McGuire. That same Marquette team won the NCAA the next year. The thing I remember most was a crazy bar that was across the street from MSG. While waiting for our game, Notre Dame had beaten their opponent and their fans were practically rioting in the bar.
I hope this year ends better for UMass in the NIT and I hope, like Calipari, Al McGuire and many others, we can use this as a springboard for next year.

The UMass - Marquette game was 69-70 with Julius. The bar was Gallagher's

You've got pretty much the best post-Julius UMass players of the entire decade of the 70's on that team....but who cares. What a great game tonight.

To all my friends from UMass who have my phone number... let me know if you need a place to stay and if you want me to pick you up a ticket. I am going to the box office tomorrow before Lasme's game at MSG... therefore you can save on ticketmaster charges.

Call me! And uh... bring a pillow.

GO UMASS!

Here's a good one for Jason Yellin...
When's the last time UMass played against brothers in the same season?

This will happen if Florida and Nick Calathes beat Arizona State tonight. We already went up against Saint Joe's Pat Calathes twice this season.

This is great stuff. This is the furthest this team has gone in my 10 year affiliation with UMass.

Lets hope Florida wins (b/c who knows if we can ever play them again) and hopefully this Semifinals appearance will help us get some exposure and some better OOC games next season.

March 5, 2008

We played against Terrell and Jerrell Williams, twins on LaSalle.

Here's another question: What is the UMass connection in the Florida-Arizona State game currently being played to determine who UMass will face in NYC?
