The article mentions a concern that since he has no ties to the program or the area, that he would jump ship at the next opportunity of a "bigger" job. If he jumps the UMASS ship after only 2 years for this job, that certainly should be a concern.

If Ford doesn't come out and make a definitive statement, then maybe we should be looking for a new coach now. I don't want to be at the end of the food chain. Well, I suppose the AD is having a conversation about that with TF. I mean, if the guy is looking for another job...well, what happens to employees who are found to be looking for another job? He's a great coach and I have a lot of respect for him, but it's gonna be a huge setback if he leaves now and we have to go coach shopping after every other Tom Dick and Harry University has got their new coach.

Having vented, I also think that TF hasn't proven himself yet to move up to a program with Final Four ambitions/expectations. He's done well with the players, but the recruiting is still a question mark in my mind. The six guys he signed to letters of intent this past November are really not that good. Based on the first hand info we've gotten on this board, they would not form the basis of a good a10 team. The guys he wants to bring on, Lang and Correia, seem better, but it requires pushing out two recruits that are already signed. Not the coolest thing.

So maybe he'll stick around another couple of years to prove that he can recruit and build a program.

Is this definitive enough for you??? This is from an article by Matty from March 20th.

"No. I've just been busy recruiting," Ford said. "It's flattering. It's always good to be wanted. There's no question. It's obviously a reflection on the success that we've had here taking over a program that's struggled a little bit. I don't ever go out and seek jobs."

Because coaches never lie to the media.....

I mean no definitive statement either way is worth squat. We will know soon enough if he has interest anywhere, and if that interest is reciprocated.

these coaches sounded pretty definitive at the time too:

you have to take every single thing a coach says with a grain of salt, there are tons of more examples i couldnt think of where they went back on their word. just cause ford says something that doesnt mean that he is 100% honest

You really need to take everything you read, hear, and see with a grain of salt. I shook hands with a college department head, accepting a job offer as an associate professor. Get the new contract with TF signed. If they guy doesn't have enough ethics to stay with a new contract that he just signed for another season, then I honestly wouldn't want him as my coach... anywhere.

or maybe, "I have my agent do it for me...."

What I want to hear from our coach is, "I like it here, I've got work to do here, I plan on staying." We're definitely not hearing that. I'd like to see us with a coach who is committed to staying a while.
