Rumor Mill
Not much of an exciting rumor but Al-Kaleem, a boston guy, is transferring from Florida and some say he's thinking about Umass. He really didn't play that much and doesn't seem like he could add much to umass but I thought I would post it anyway

speaking of the rumor mill, i was told on thursday that the Barbee deal was said and done... he was suppose to come in as head coach, with kellog and weeks to be two of his assistants.... i know it sounds crazy, but i guess that was a done deal until the new AD decided to keep Lappas..... i know this is going to cause a crazy firestorm, but thats what i was told to be true... i'm going to assume that the decision came down to just being about money.... i dont see any other reason why Lappas was kept

Kdogg Al-Kaleem was the dagger, the 3 pt shooter, and go to guy on at least two of Jack O'Brien's Charlestown teams that won the State Championships. Saw Charlestown play many times and Al-Kaleem stood out not only as an athlete but also as the best 3 pt shooter on a team that specialized on the 3 pt offense and the aka Pitino style full court pressure defense. Had his choice of were to go early in the recruiting process and Billy Donovan persuaded him to go to Florida. It 's probably not that hard to recruit a kid to Fla. warm weather, great school, the SEC, a top ten program but in reality I thought it was stretch for him to make it there. Reminds me of the kid that was Rahiem's team mate at Boston English and plays at LaSalle now but in high school Al-Kaleem was a better shooter and better athlete. I could see Al-Kaleem jacking up threes for Lappas and being a contributor on a top tier A10 team. If Hazelton can be a contributor at Rhodi this kid can help at Amherst.
I heard it to be true that one poster in this thread was admitted to UMass under the Legacy Program. I know it's crazy, but I heard it to be true. We need a Globe Spotlight investigation into the Admissions Department, it's all about firestorms and money with those guys. I don't see any other reason why he was admitted.

Does it realy matter if tony or John Tate was going to be named head coach, Steve Lappas is the coach, I do not like it, but there is no point to even post that because it does not even matterInnervisionsUMASS wrote:belive it or not, that is your choice, but it definetly helps give credence to what i was originally saying the whole weekend before they decided to keep him
