Not a program that makes me say, well, maybe the MAC will get better. We need to hope we get an invite to move on sometime soon.njumass08 wrote:Rumors swirling around that JMU will be getting a MAC invite very soon. UMass '10 but I run with the '06 class
I wonder if JMU getting invited means that the MAC expects us to stick around for awhile. Obviously if JMU joins and we leave the MAC is back at 13 teams. Still, it would nice to have an old CAA foe on our schedule. Maybe this can be a rivalry for us.Puffton395 wrote:Not a program that makes me say, well, maybe the MAC will get better. Its a combination between this tweet and the comments that follow and a few well-regarded posters on the JMU message board saying they have all heard similar rumors recently.Kosty wrote:Where are these rumors swirling from? I just did a quick search on "JMU moving to FBS" and most of the articles are from 2013. To see that nothing is dated in this year, I hardly call that "rumors swirling".

Would JMU be a full member or just football?
Why does the MAC have to consider a 1AA transition? I've been scratching my head regarding the conference pecking order. After the BCS conferences, I see the Mountain West and American as the next tier. I consider the Sun Belt at the bottom (absorbed the remnants of the imploded WAC). Is CUSA and the MAC at the same level? If the MAC is more attractive, then why don't they simply try and recruit Marshal again. If UMass bolts for the American, then they should go after Western Kentucky.

There has been talk that Marshall would like to come back to the MAC now that CUSA has lost all the teams. Marshall has also been scheduling all their old MAC pals in football and basketball but the problem is CUSA has a large buyout which makes it hard to justify. I think UCF, Memphis had to pay like 5x TV revenue or $5 million exit fee to leave to the AAC.Big10Land wrote:Would JMU be a full member or just football?
