Co-sign. Really fun to watch, competitive, sees things nobody else sees. Just needs to work on his shooting stroke, which can and hopefully will improve.

I have to admit that for a while I was really down on Danny, even though I realize he is a true freshman. I have watched the last few games on replay, even after attending the games. He does make a few bad decisions and has some turnovers, but he is far and away the best of our guards at getting the ball to Bettiol in the right spot.

Yesterday's game is a prime example. Danny had 9 assists, 4 turnovers and 4 steals. So let's say the turnovers and steals balance each other out. I saw 4 or 5 great passes to Leo for relatively easy baskets. Danny will also not get credit for assists when Leo gets fouled and get us 2 points from the line, which happens a lot.

I hope that with another summer and fall of instruction that his shooting will improve. Not talking about threes as that is a real longshot. But he needs to be at 65% or better from the line and a lot better at those 5 footers that he hardly ever makes.

The foul shooting is a problem, but he's still a net positive, and yes, we should try to keep him.

He's second in the MAC in assists and assists per game, and more importantly, 3rd in A:TO ratio. Freshman turn the rock over. Danny's been a pleasant surprise there.

Record setter.

'Bucc dished 17 assists tonight, which set a new UMass program record for most assists in a game.
(Previous was 15, held by Chaz and Carl Smith.)

And he's on pace to be very high on the single-season list. 154 on the season after tonight. He'll need 11.7/game the rest of the regular season to set the record. Add in any MAC tournament games and he might set the record easily.

Both extremely happy and sad. Full praise to Carbuccia. Glad he is a Minuteman. Just a bit sad to learn that Alex Eldridge or Carl Smith doesn’t own the record. All good. Danny is a Minuteman (at least for now in the portal era) and a record is a record even if against a shitty team in a shitty conference.

Records are meant to be broken. What a performance! 17 assists might get broken again some day, but I doubt it'll be by a freshman.

I think if Carbuccia stays at UMass all 4 years, he's going to break the assist record here. Big if.

Danny's scoring has definitely improved in the last 30 days.. his lowest scoring game in his last seven games was 7 and he hit a 3-pointer in 6 out of his last 7 games. For comparison, he only hit a 3-pointer in 5 out of his first 25 games.

Danny is currently in 8th place for single season assists with 202. He's 10 behind Carl Smith in 7th (212) and 14 behind Chris Lowe in 6th (214).

The top 5:
5 - Chaz - 229
4 - Chaz - 231
3 - Cary Herer - 238
2 - Chaz - 242
1 - Edgar - 247

Full disclosure: The record book on the UMass site has him listed #2, but the total assists would put him in 3rd. Not sure which is right, but I took the liberty and went with the # of assists and marked him as 3.
