^Worth noting that the Dayton game was a Saturday afternoon, whereas Butler is a Thursday evening. A lot of the weekend day trippers from Eastern Mass will come out on a Saturday, but not necessarily a Thursday, so if we lose and the game doesn't mean much, those casuals aren't gonna show as they might on a weekend.

^Pretty sure BC sold out during DK's first season here. But I'm probably wrong on that.
Also, anyone interested in meeting at Professor Thoms in the city to watch the game? I'll likely be there with a few friends and Matt, one of the former owners/managers (not really sure which...he's there often still) is a die hard who I'm sure will have the game on. Last time we went for SJU, he set up an ipad and about 12 of us watched, but that's because it was on ESPN3. This one I'm sure will be on the their TV's.

^Then which BC game was it that almost sold out in the last 7 or so years? 06 maybe?
Edit: it was, indeed, the 06-07 game. We lost but the Bill was filled to capacity at 9,493. http://www.umassathletics.com/sports/m- ... 206bc.html

Yep, 9493 for that one. That was the one after the UNH playoff football game, I do believe.
And I take that back... 9493 is apparently the sellout #... Temple in 2001 was the same #. So BC in 2006 was the most recent sellout.
UCONN in 2004 had 9037.

Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
Niles has a good post on page 2 breaking down the Xavier team. A few things that I noticed in looking at their stats page:
They only take 13 3's per game, their opponents take 20.4. Where X is smart is that their 2 best shooters (Dee Davis and Redford) take most of them. They shoot 34% as a team and that is why.
They outrebound their opponents by 5 a game.
They prefer a controlled pace, scoring 65 and giving up 62.
They don't have a lot of blocks or steals and they don't create a lot of turnovers, but they play tough D and force you into bad or hurried shots.
I'm sure DK has these stats and is looking for a way to exploit their weaknesses. Maybe that's why he wants to push the pace in this game.

That was my frosh year too... I remember running across the boyden fields to get to the mullins center after the football game... disappointing end.MassModestMouse wrote:It was, that was my freshman year at UMass. I was excited to get all of my new friends in to the basketball team.....and then we shit the bed.
Still one of the best days I've had at umass... and when they got on a roll early and then Life hit a 3 and we all started going crazy in the student section.... ahh, that was fun.
Looking at the X message boards, they are asking the same question "will he play?". They are worried that they don't have anyone quick enough to stay with Chaz. Also, their backup point guard, Amos, has been out with an injury and is not expected to play.NilesGold wrote:If Dee Davis doesn't play in the game, we absolutely should press and push the pace.69MG wrote:I'm sure DK has these stats and is looking for a way to exploit their weaknesses. In the Memphis game, they started Martin (6'6 forward) at guard. They do have Redford (6'1) who is a good player, but they must like having him come off the bench. He averages 23 minutes, 7 points and can shoot the 3.
Give them credit for beating Memphis with 6 players who played at least 26 minutes, 1 player at 10 and 1 at 3. If we can rebound, I'm all for pushing the pace.
