Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
I don't understand all the hate. Gordon gave us a couple of good years, always played hard, graduated on time and decided he wanted to play elsewhere. To say he's not a key component of Seton Hall this year is just not accurate,. Seton Hall plays essentially a six man rotation. Although he doesn't start (except against Providence when he started and did a great job of shutting down Dunn) he's almost always on the court to finish games. Playing on three different teams from three different schools to earn NCAA tournament bids is an unprecedented and significant accomplishment.
So many on here are so quick to denigrate the players on this team when they leave. Last year not only was Gordon trashed but so were Maxie and Cady.
The year before many were making the ridiculous argument that Chaz was over-rated and the team may actually be better without him. I guess the rational is to deflect criticism from whom it really belongs.

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Lets take a trip to Derrick Gordon fantasy land, population one. In this land Gordon is a prized NBA prospect that so many teams disrespected him and now he is getting his revenge. As part of his revenge tour he is taking his 3rd different team to the NCAA tournament and on each team he has been the X factor.
Now lets go back to reality. Gordon has accomplished something pretty unique in going to the tourney with his third team. But is that a good thing or a bad thing? Why three different teams?
The reality is if he had he stayed at Umass he would have started every game, play a ton of minutes, scored more points, been a leader and really could of helped his NBA chances more than he has at Seton Hall. And had he stayed at Umass they may have won 2-3 more games max.

I hate to break it to you but virtually every kid that gets recruited to play high level D1 basketball has a dream to play in the NBA. I remember way back Bruiser telling me that the eleventh player on his roster thought he was good enough to play at the highest level. Who are you to shit on Gordon's or anyone else's dream? Antwan Space also spent his last year of eligibility playing for his third team after graduating on time. I didn't see you criticizing him for leaving Texas A&M to play for Mass.

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
In the few times I watched Seton Hall this season, Derrick seemed to get a lot of minutes and to have fit in well with his new team. He even drained a three pointer yesterday (I nearly fainted
).
His dream is to play in the NBA, but he doesn't seem to have enough game to make it. Nothing wrong with dreaming, but eventually you have to face reality. Some day, I suppose he will do so and come up with different goals.
Seton Hall is still playing (either the NCAA or the NIT?), and we're staying home. He chose to play for a better team his senior year. Who can blame him for that? Also, he wanted to play closer to home (his family). If he had stayed at UMass does anyone think we would have had a better season? We had too many flaws.
I wish Mr. Gordon success and a happy life.

Happy for DG and Seton Hall. They are a fun team to watch, and DG has had a good season for them. It was definitely the right move for DG. Happy it worked out. I hope he/they make a good run in the tourney, and DG finds a nice contract overseas.

You can criticize DG's skills but you cant question his decision making skills. His decision to leave umass and joun seton hall was a very smart move. Im routing for seton hAll an dg.
Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
When I attended the Selection Sunday at Amherst Brewing Company (RIP) in 2014, DG was very accessible and an articulate conversationalist. I enjoyed talking with him. I felt that he went out of his way to connect with the fans more than most athletes. Gotta respect him for that.

DG, even hit a huge 3 point down the stretch for the Pirates, must have been a great feeling for him.

For sure - loving what this local team is doing. Isaiah Whitehead's presence and Kevin Willard's local recruiting completely changed this team around.Refuse2Lose83 wrote:Happy for DG and Seton Hall. All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

Fittingly his last ever shot he took in his college career was an air ball from the free-throw line tonight. #nbabound

I saw that. Cringe inducing, but let's give the kid a break. He had a good college career, seems like a decent, albeit maybe immature person, but has overcome some things and has stayed out of trouble, etc. I had a nice time watching and rooting for him. Besides that FT the announcers had a lot of praise for him, and deservedly so, he played a good game, played hard on both ends, and was probably Seton Halls best player tonight (not saying much, but still. ) good luck to DG in his future.

Fitting that people on this board still fire shots at this kid.fenway617 wrote:Fittingly his last ever shot he took in his college career was an air ball from the free-throw line tonight. #nbabound
1st player in NCAA history to play on 3 NCAA Tournament teams, 1st openly gay player in the NCAA Tournament, and probably Seton Hall's best player last night. But let's throw shade on him for missing a FT.
