KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Yeah, I liked Dyson. I think he could have been a good player for UMASS if they had a little confidence in him

At the risk of pissing off the "who cares let the thread die" crowd. Seton hall is playing in the charleston classic right now. Bringing back some good memories. I'm sure DG feels the same.
Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Article about Gordon today where he is looked at as a leader at SH and he mentions how when he was at Umass and they lost a few games players sort of went their own way.

don't know why, but clicking on the above link locked me up... twice.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.
Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Link worked ok for me. Interesting article and especially his comment about UMass.

Hey, they beat Providence! PC cleaned our clocks. Maybe SH was a good decision for him.fenway617 wrote:Article about Gordon today where he is looked at as a leader at SH and he mentions how when he was at Umass and they a few games players sort of went their own way.

As many of you predicted, we sure are a lot better off without him

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Both his former team and his new team seem to have benefited from the move. A win win situation. I just wish his old team (us) could have given Providence a game. Not Trigger wrote:As many of you predicted, we sure are a lot better off without him

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
I think most were fine with him leaving esp considering he didn't want to be here. Plus it opened a spot for a younger player to get more experience. Umass would have the same record they have now if he stayed and we all knew this year was going to be tough just to get close to .500.
He has had a couple of good games with SH but by no means is he having a great year. His MPG, Pts, R, A, BL, St, FT% are all lower this year than last year. But as a team SH has been a surprise team and have a chance to make the tourney and he has certainly contributed. If they do that would mean Gordon would have played in the touney with three different teams, can't image that has happened very often.

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Seton Hall beat Providence by 18 but Derrick had a pretty bad night; 2 pts on 1 for 10 shooting, 2 rebs, 1 assist in 20 minutes.
Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
He has not had a great year but Seton Hall as a team is having a good year. Gordon has a chance, a very good chance to play in the NCAA tourney for the 3rd time with 3 different teams which has to at least tie a record if not set a record.
But for Gordon alone this season has not been great for him esp for his NBA dreams. All his numbers across the board are lower than last year. He is averaging 8 ppg, 2 points less than last year, his min, rebounds, steals, assists, blocks are all down from last year as is his FT which is at 61%, last year it was a respectable 74%. And one of his biggest grips at Umass was they didn't let him shoot 3 pointers. This season he is shooting them and not doing it very well at 9 for 42 for 21% from 3-point range. In his last 3 college basketball season he has hit a total of 10 three pointers!

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
^I often wondered how much of Kellog's game coaching played into DG's decision to transfer? And if it did, should we be worried about our incoming recruiting class?
Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Gordon thought he had skills that he doesn't possess and that he wasn't being used properly to showcase those skills. This year has proven that he is the same player we saw here. There is no way to know what next year will bring, but for now the only thing that I am worrying about concerning next year's class is whether or not they will all qualify.UM Fan wrote:^I often wondered how much of Kellog's game coaching played into DG's decision to transfer? Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
While his numbers might be down, scouts are paying a lot more attention the Big East than the A10 and it seems like he has been the main leader for the Pirates this season. I think he achieved his goal of getting more eye balls on his game so can't fault him for transferring for his final year when it was pretty clear we were going to be a middle of the pack A10 team at best.69MG wrote:Gordon thought he had skills that he doesn't possess and that he wasn't being used properly to showcase those skills.
