An Old Friend: Raheim Lamb

Post by 82grad » Tue Feb 14, 2006 4:14 pm

I was just reading in the Globe that the Commonwealth Coast's player of the week this week was none other than Raheim Lamb of Curry College. It seems like he played for us 10 years ago but I have no concept of time.

According to the Curry roster, Chops is a senior and captain on the team.

Only player, besides Maurice, that I was really sad to see leave. I'm glad he is finishing his education.

He's averaging about 20 and 6 for a team that is 13-10 and has won 3 straight!!

From the Commonwealth Coast Conference...
Lamb shot over 85 percent from the field in a 2-1 week for the Colonels, including a school-record 11-for-11 (most FGs made shooting 100 percent in a game) against Nichols… he averaged 22.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 steals as Curry maintained a hold on 2nd place in the South Division…
Lamb is shooting 62% from the floor on the season, which would be good for first in the league. Problem is, the league only counts the stats if you've played in 75% of your team's games. Lamb has played in 17 of Curry's 23, which is 73.9%. Doh!

I can't believe Lamb is still playing college ball. He has to be like 24 years old.

Williams on the GW team we are playing right now is 24. Jackie Rogers was that old playing for us.

What's important is that a good guy with problems has stuck with it and found a place that gets him a degree.

A buddy of mine is an assistant coach in that league, and he said it was just ridiculous to watch him playing against D3 teams...i was a fan when he was here, but I'm glad he's finishing out school....
the thing about college sports is....everyone's OBSESSED with winning!!

For the record, tomorrow he'll be 25 yrs and 2 mos.

Old Cage has it right though, doesn't matter how old he is, as long as he makes the most of college and walks out with a degree.

Chris Weinke was like 48 and still playing for Florida State 8)
