What Do You Think of This Bet

Post by Minutemen4Life » Sun Jul 10, 2005 12:56 am

So I was slightly intoxicated at a bar tonight and I bet a fellow intern $10 that UMass would make it to the NCAA tournament this year?

Good bet or bad bet? and what are my odds at winning this bet?

I'm thinking maybe in a sober state I should've done:
UMass makes tourney +120
UMass misses tourney

Prolly something like X+C, where X equals a season's worth of variables and C equals Travis Ford plus the stellar returning players and a healthy cast of rookies. I may be wrong tho', I only took Calc 127 & 128.
This aggression will not stand, man

They won 16 last year. They have a coach that pushes them, but it is a new system. I'd say even money.
They may not be great, but they won't be boring!

I'm thinking that these guys know they can win and with Coach Ford will put in the work. The same guys with a renewed confidence and a good teacher/leader in a coach, and some talented newcomers should make this team noticeably better. 20 wins wouldn't surprise me, good bet MM4Life

New coach, new point guard. I wouldn't bet on the NCAA tournament.

Calculus 131 and 132 were much more challenging.

Ditto.

However, I personally would bet they make it.

How badly do you think you'll need that 10 spot in March?

Hell it's $10. I'd bet that Freeman wins player of the year for $10. I say way to stand behind your team and put your money where your mouth is, even when barely able to stand :D

I don't know what "+120 means," but the Minutemen will make the NCAA. Joy is back in Amherst!

Gambling makes baby jesus cry.
You know, say what you will about America, 13 bucks still gets you a hell of a lot of mice.

Yea it's ONLY $10. But I'm still in college, that's a thirty pack of some nasty beer right there and only a few dollars short of some Coors Light. 8)

If my understanding of gambling is correct then it's related to the payout. For every 100 dollars I put in I would get back the 100 dollars plus an additional 120 dollars. Similarly if it was -120, for every 120 dollars I put in I would get back the 120 dollars plus an additional 100 dollars.

It basically revolves around how much your initial bet is.[/b]
