Immaculate Grid - UMass style

Post by Plano Minuteman » Fri Jul 31, 2026 10:03 am

Anyone play this for Pro Baseball, NBA, NFL, Soccer, English Soccer, WNBA?

https://www.sports-reference.com/immaculate-grid/

I worked with Claude to generate a 3x3 that should be viable....although some categories will be light in names. This is probably going to be super simple for you guys. But a unique appeal of the Immaculate Grid is the Rarity Score. Like Golf, the lower the Rarity Score the better.

E.G. In basketball - if you have Milwaukee Bucks and have a cross with the category, Born outside the 50 States and DC. You're gonna probably want to go with Giannis before his brother who played there, to improve your score.

One very important rule is that you can only use a player's name once in the 3x3 grid. There definitely will be players that meet multiple criteria, but you've gotta choose the best home for them on this.

The 1st column is 30+ wins - cumulative wins for time in Division I college ball

The 2nd column is 400 points. Player had to score 400 points in Division I college ball

3rd column is All Conference. All Conference - any conference. 1st team, 2nd team, 3rd team, honor roll, Defensive Team.

1st row is PA HIgh School - any UMass men's hoop player who played at least 1 game for a PA High School.

2nd row is Calipari Era - Any player who played for Calipari

3rd row is Also Played at least 1 game for a major conference - conferences include: ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, SEC. School had to be in the major conference at the time.

So the grid looks like.......

------------------------------- 30 Wins | 400 points | All Conference

PA High School

Played for Cal

Major Conference

And uh, I'm not hosting this anywhere (although if you have any ideas where, I'm all ears). But I'll volunteer to tally results if you send me an IM.

EDIT: Just created a Google Form per the suggestion of Claude. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... ish-editor

Too easy? Too lame?

Saturday, I had the opportunity to use Camby and Dr J in the Grid, which was fantastic. BPG category for both. Camby >1 BPG for Portland, and Dr J >1 BPG for the Sixers.

Need to work Skinner, Forbes, Jarreau, Ketner, Lasme, Roe (and AJ Wynder?) in as well sometime.
