The 2 transfers yet to come better be scorers or we will have to transition to being a great defensive team. I don't trust freshmen at the level we can recruit to be great scorers. I think Helgason has the best chance among the freshmen but it's just a guess. There is always a chance that Frank goes with 14 or 15 scholarship players to give himself more chances to land a couple of scorers. The downside is that a lot of guys won't see the floor if you have 15 and that could lead to some dissention. Also, he likes Rollie and I think he would save a spot for him.

The "other" Kolton Mitchell, a 6'1 PG from Idaho, has announced his transfer to Ohio U.

These are the only two guys I was able to find any murmurs about on Twitter

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... -thomas-ii

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... hki-gupton

Given the similar profiles, would imagine this is an either/or vs. a both type of thing

Thomas interest list:
UAB
Kennesaw State
Wake Forest
Tulsa
Northeastern
Western Kentucky
UMass
Tulane
Bowling Green
USM
James Madison
UTEP
Georgia State

Gupton:
Northern Colorado
Youngstown St.
Tennessee Tech
UMass
Lamar
McNeese State
Long Beach State
Southern Miss
Texas A&M Corpus Christi

This is my concern currently as well. We haven't yet "replaced" Leo and Banks... they combined for 801 FGA and 34.8ppg. Need to figure that out.

^ Right. We lost all four of our double digit scorers. Banks and Leo were at the top, but DHS and Parker also combined for 22 ppg. Those 4 combined for 56.8 points per game and 66% of our FG attempts. That's a lot to replace. I'm fearful that the pendulum is swinging back and we'll end up with another '24/'25 type squad.

"Last year we lacked rim protection". Frank goes and gets Rivera and Shahid, who can't play basketball but blocked a ton of shots.
"Last year we lacked offense". Frank gets Parker and Bettiol, who can shoot but weren't very good defensively.
"Last year we lacked defense". What does Frank do this year? Probably goes out and neglects the offensive side again.

Two spots to fill, and they need to be immediate impact players.

Get ready for .500 basketball, maybe, as Fraud Martin tries to pull the holey wool over your eyes yet again, with soothing banter of his glorious past. Brought to you by His Total Ineptness, The Great Bamholio. Enough of clownshoes A & B.

I hope you are wrong, but it is hard to disagree with you.

Gonna be another run towards 6th to 8th place. If UMass finishes outside of the top 5 in the MAC 2 years in a row then everyone should be fired.. won't happen.. Bamford would probably hire a 600k a year GM of basketball.

Things could be changing quickly, which makes sense as to why it seems quiet here. Next month the NCAA could be voting on a rule to allow SAs to play 5 seasons in 5 years: https://www.si.com/college-football/nca ... e-proposal

Might have a lot of seniors with newfound eligibility in the coming weeks.

Passing this new rule change as 'effective immediately' would create a catastrophe. Also, there are 4 years of college, why do they deserve 5 years of eligibility now?

The old rules were best.. the only change I would make is with your first transfer you can play immediately, however your second transfer you need to sit out a year.
