Frank loves Danny, even though he yells at him (everyone gets yelled at). Frank seems pretty certain Danny is staying and he will start. Hailey is coming in and Frank said that he passes like Danny and shoots like Parker. So Hailey is the end of close game PG unless Danny gets a lot better from the line. That will steal minutes from Parker. Frank wants bigger shooting guards, so Parker wouldn't see time there either.

I don't think Frank's son has much to do with it as much as Hailey does and whoever else he gets in the portal. But you are correct in that Frank probably didn't want him so he could use that spot for a more pressing need. All speculation, but that's what the off-season is for.
I don't think it is about Frank wanting him. The Jordan Clayton is a PG is the third PG. He might even be the second off the bench at the stat of the season. Frank wants guys to stay. He is brutally honest with them though and seeing that K'Jei lost the starting PG job last year, he wasn't getting it back. Parker could've stayed I'm sure however he would see vastly diminished time on the court. He was liability on defense and made some costly TOs. He defintley can shoot the rock, though.

It's just not particularly fun or compelling to do so. c'est la vie. And I have a Condo for sale at Quabbin Resevoir fore anybody who believes that K'Jei Parker is transferring to Ball State for academic opportunities or b/c Ball State offered him less than whatever UMass offered to retain him.
I would love to buy you place on the Quabbin, alas.... I cannot purchase it under your conditions
And given your conditions, I'd be gobsmacked you were capable of even locating the Quabbin on a Belchertown map much less buying my condo

So, how many spots we have available, 1? 2?
Should be hearing something today or tomorrow, no?

Been awfully quiet on recruiting news this offseason

I wish we had room for a "project", but we don't. Another center from Italy named Leo just entered the portal. He redshirted this year at Colorado. Has good bloodlines as his father played for South Carolina and Stanford.

The deadline to enter the portal is tomorrow. After that, there is no deadline to join a team besides essentially, the start of the season.

just to enter; a player has until tomorrow (April 21) to enter. I don't think there's any deadline for settling with a new school, except of course for the calendar of the school, its coach, etc. Lots of portal activity today, but nothing to report here

Some big time losses for the MAC, with some big names hitting the transfer portal at the last second

-Rob Whaley Jr, Kent State
-Jackson Paveletzke, Ohio
-Aidan Hadaway, Ohio
-Peter Suder, Miami OH

Portal closes at midnight. So far, 2500 names and still just 3 from us.

There are approximately 4200 rostered D1 college basketball players .... so more than half are transferring? That doesn't count Seniors who are graduating out either ....

That is crazy stuff.

Whaley I get, he's got eligibility left. But the other 3 have all played 4 years in D1 already. And not like Diggins, who had a year where he played something like 10 minutes in a season. How can they transfer? By the way, perhaps the rule for when a season doesn't count, which is based on % of games played, would be better based on % of minutes played.

^Seems to be a new thing this year that I'm seeing from a lot of players. They're entering the portal and applying for a waiver for a 5th year. There's been a lot of movement in NCAA sports allowing granting players a 5th year of eligibility that may go into effect this summer. If the rule goes through, then the players will be ready to go and will use that 5th year at a P5 program. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/colle ... 00886.html
