So, keep posting the same attacks against Bamford in an area and season that he is not a major issue steve, are you Bamford or something??? he is responsible for one thing: WINS AND LOSSES. That's it. and Umass since he was installed HAS SUCKED. do you realize pre Bamford we played MAC teams in basketball for 4 years when we were football only and we SWEPT them. Now we go .500 at best. I'll say it again: if we lose to either Sacred Heart or Stonehill, we should shut down football and forfeit all remaining games. And the mere fact Stonehill is on our schedule at all is EMBARRASSING. 2 FCS schools??!!!??? I don't know Bamford's connections but they are pretty damn good: like scoring a job at MassPort or something.Steve81 wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 8:11 amAbsolutely was a good win and Bamford has responsibility. He has responsibility going forward to all sports, but football day to day operations is layered away from Bamford. Bamford is not a major issue for football this season or going forward! So, keep posting the same attacks against Bamford in an area and season that he is not a major issue and myself for supporting football and pointing out there have been positive changes and we have Thorr and a GM.vanmeter wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 6:20 pm When Whipple was coach we actually beat BYU away.
Also this years schedule is a nothing burger. 2 games against (very weak) FCS teams and games out of conference Connecticut (who will be bad again now that Mora is gone) and Rutgers one of the worst power 4 teams.
Understand Bamford is fully responsible for men's basketball that has flounder since Bamford took over, except DK's 2014 NCAA season, thanks Chaz! But this is the football forum on a thread about the upcoming season. So, keep repeating your dissatisfaction for Ryan Bamford in an area that has received more parts to the puzzle than ever; money, coaching staff, NIL and now with team chemistry and connected coaching staff. Hoping they click together and will shift to talking about this year’s team and not Bamford and the past seasons.
You are taught history so you do not repeat the same mistakes. For football, see many of the mistakes corrected as funding, coaching support and staff, administrations and a conference home.

Re: 2026 Season
I stand corrected: Ryan Bamford has a FAR BETTER job than a MassPort or MWRA gig. He makes $1,000,000 a year. Nobody at MassPort etc makes that. Does anyone know how he got this AD job? It's got to be family connections or something. He was assistant AD at Georgia Tech I think when he was hired at UMass. When does his contract end and can he be fired??? Wikipedia says he was hired in March 2015. So we've had this doofus for 11 years........He's got to go. Mens LAX played for the LAX natty in 2006. 1AA natty in 1998 and 1AA runner up in 2006. Womens LAX hasn't done shit since 2017. All UMass sports with the exception of hockey has TOTALLY SUCKED since Bam was hired.

Re: 2026 Season
I'm thinking of heading out to the spring game next weekend if it's a good weather day. What should I expect? Has traffic been an issue in the past, does the band play, are there concessions or should I pack an igloo cooler?
I saw the press release, but info is kind of skimpy for someone that's never been to a spring game before. https://umassathletics.com/news/2026/3/ ... y-april-25

Re: 2026 Season
There has been no consistent atmosphere for these. Way too much turnover. The most I’ve ever seen in attendance has been about 150. There were no concessions open ever. Any or all of that could be different this time around.Juice Stand wrote: Thu Apr 16, 2026 2:04 pm I'm thinking of heading out to the spring game next weekend if it's a good weather day. Thanks. I remember seeing some video from last year and it looked very sparse. I wonder why they don't try to make more of an event out of it.

We've never had big crowds for Spring games, even when we had our 1-AA run.Juice Stand wrote: Fri Apr 17, 2026 5:31 am Thanks. I remember seeing some video from last year and it looked very sparse. I wonder why they don't try to make more of an event out of it.
Big schools charge big bucks for their g Spring games, make it a big social event and sell put bid stadiums.
UF an example.

Will be looking at the new Max Warner offense, schemes, players and if they can score TD within the red zone. It a nice time to catch up with friends acquaintances, administration and asking some questions.
