True, that definitely tracks.
Also, FIU just fired their head coach. I posted it before, but I still think that's the best fit for Frank. Move back to Miami, coach at FIU, and then retire.

Thanks for that. As much as I'm fed up with him, I'm still fired up for the game and he really is good on radio/TV.mdogt12 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 4:20 pm Listen to Wednesday - Mar 11, 2026 from WEEI Afternoons on Audacy - https://go.audacy.com/B1BYEiiLq1b
I'll mostly agree with this. As fed up as I am with Frank's antics, his poor coaching, lack of accountability, etc. I'm going to remind myself that Ryan Bamford is utterly incapable of making a quality hire in football or men's basketball. If Frank is here for one more year, I can grit my teeth and bear it. We need Bamford out so that when Frank's time does end, we have new leadership to make the replacement hire.Quann wrote: Fri Mar 13, 2026 6:34 pm I’m fine with Frank getting another year but I want Bamford canned tomorrow. He cannot hire Franks replacement a year from now and I don’t want him overseeing the program heading into another football season.
So you think coach H is not a quality hire? Jury is out obviously, but he could very well be Rutgers next head coach in a few years..Juice Stand wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 7:11 am Pulled over from the Toledo game thread:I'll mostly agree with this. Post game press conference
We gotta keep fighting to impact young people regardless of what the rules are...that's where I hang my hat on...I always feel like if there's just one guy that needs my help, shame on me for not having that guy's back and helping him understand how to find success...so as long as I got one or two guys on my team that what I do matters to them, I'm good. So as long as kids value the things I'm talking about, I'm In. I ain't going anywhere. I'm too young to quit, I still got that fire burning, but I'm too old to start a new career.
I was wondering how many coaches don't greet players coming off the court. I don't mind it, if others, assistants, greet them. It is part of his structure it seems to want players to come off the court and think first before speaking. It definitely seems like an anomaly in the world of college basketball. I'm with you about the yelling. I don't mind the cursing. I don't like the "name calling", especially when he calls kids "retards" of "stupid". Yes, he had said that loud enough during games to be heard in the stands.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 7:59 am Frank has million$ of reasons to not go anywhere. And that's fine. I really don't give a shit about the screaming and yelling. I just wish he'd do two things:
- Stop with the bench sulking
- High five/greet/coach his players as they come off the floor to the bench
Changing those two little things would make a difference.

The switch from in game Frank to "real" Frank and the amount of time he spends with the players as "real" Frank seems to mitigate the effect of the in game lunacy. Success on the court at lower levels or different places really doesn't matter if kids are not going pro somewhere, IMO. The exodus is rampant across the board. I don't hold that against him. There is lots to hold against him. No way this current team should have finished 8 in the MAC. He has only won one tournament game, even if seeded higher, while at Umass. Granted it was a great win. It was followed by loss. He is 1-4 in conference tournaments. If the regular season record were better.... but they haven't been. He doesn't win enough.massprof wrote: Sat Mar 14, 2026 8:54 am What frustrates me the most is that I always like what Frank has to say about his goal of positively impacting young men both on and off the court and that this is what motivates him to continue coaching. But here's the thing which all of us know.....first, his actions belie his words. How can he reconcile those ideas with his constant negative comments about his players, insulting players during games, sulking on the bench instead of coaching, etc.? Second, if the players truly felt supported by Frank, there shouldn't be such a large exodus of players every year, particularly in the case of talented players who go on to have successful careers at schools that rank no higher, if not actually lower, than UMass. If Frank had even a little bit of self-reflection and self-monitoring, he should be able to see all of this and perhaps make some constructive changes. But if that hasn't happened by now, it never will.
