Just watched the second half of a very quiet game. Tied with Kent State at the half and then pulled away for a ten point win 66-56. Another 20 win season and remain undefeated at home.

Hmm. Wasn't quiet from where I sat. I thought it was a pretty hard-fought and entertaining game until about the middle of the 4th quarter. We played excellent defense and really shut down their best player, who was literally crying on the sideline when they took her out in the 4th. I don't think she was injured, just super frustrated.

Sadly, we lost to both James Madison and Toledo at home, so we are not undefeated at home, but we're on track for 15 conference wins.

^ I wasn't suggesting that they didn't play hard. We pulled away slowly, and I expected a Kent State challenge, but it didn't happen.

Sorry about the undefeated at home part. I took that from a twitter post. Didn't think to question it.

Gotcha. Until we got up by 10+ in the middle of the 4th I never really felt totally comfortable. Kent State could have gotten hot, and we were a little streaky in terms of shooting. Kent State was still playing hard, and we got in bonus early, but you're right, we did slowly pull away. Maybe it just seemed more intense to me being courtside. It was a pretty chippy game.

Meg getting her second foul in the 1st quarter and then picking up her third halfway thru the 3rd quarter hurt. But we were able to weather the storm and with all hands on deck we pulled away in 4th. Lily Ferguson is a bulldog out there. Tenacious goes after every ball. Very big contributor coming of the bench.

Word! She's been a favorite of ours since the season before last. The team obviously wasn't that good, but she never quit. She's gotten stronger the past couple of seasons and has played a big role during injuries, and as you say, when people get into foul trouble.

I was sitting not far from Megan's father, and at one point she looked over at him, rolled her eyes, and said, "everything I do is a foul." She was frustrated, but she still made some key defensive plays in the 4th quarter, not to mention her points in the paint.

I looked into what's left, and it seems likely that we'll rise higher.

Our remaining schedule:
2/28 at WMU (5-10). They're tied for 9th so they'll be fighting for a postseason chance. Not sure if one more loss fully eliminates them. However, we crushed WMU at home on NYE, so I'm still calling this a UM W.
3/4 at Akron (4-11). I think they're already eliminated.
3/7 Buffalo (0-15 / 2-25). The only reason we'd lose that is if Leflar rests starts in preparation for Cleveland (starts 3/11)
Best case: 15-3

Quick tangent on Buffalo: You'd think that at 2-25 they'd be near the bottom in NET, but there's still 47 teams below them, including 3 that are winless (Western Carolina in SoCon, Valpo in The Valley, Prairie View in the SWAC).

Miami, 14-1, currently the 1, NET 73
2/28 Akron, see above, virtual lock for Miami.
3/4 Kent State (7-8), a likely Miami W.
3/7 at Ohio (9-6). Bobcats might put up a fight there. They're primary rivals with Miami, yes? Still, calling it a Miami W.
Likely 17-1

Ball State, 14-2, better NET at 66
2/28 Ohio, likely Ball W
mini-bye
3/7 at Toledo (8-7), likely Ball W but not a lock. Ball only beat Toledo by 4 earlier.
Likely 16-2

If that all plays out we're the 3 seed.

My wife and I are at the game today. Black uniforms actually look pretty sharp in person.

Rough first period but they seem to be finding their footing, especially defensively.

Huge bounce back in the second quarter. They are playing really tight defense. Lead 32-23 at the half.
