No, seriously. I hope people understand this. Bamford doesn't get one more hire. I'd rather have Frank for another three seasons if it meant Bamford goes tomorrow.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Sun Feb 22, 2026 3:38 pm You cannot move on from Frank unless you move on from Ryan first.

Re: Time for a new coach
My vote is for new coach. Just a lack of good game coaching. No not just bad but terrible. Worst I have ever seen anywhere and I have been watching Umass since 1961 when I was 19. Its as if this coach can only recruit.
Re: Time for a new coach
Yeah if we had our wish of getting rid of either Bamford or Martin tomorrow (but could only choose 1) it would definitely be Bamford, no question. Need a new AD that's actually willing to hold the head ball coach accountable. Maybe if FM was under some pressure to win he would actually stop screwing around with lineups and actually put more shooters in the game and do other things that help you win immediately like working on free throw shooting.

Not that it matters, but I'm throwing my support behind getting rid of Bamford first. Frank Martin's time will end eventually, whether that's contract expiration, retirement, or a firing, but it seems like Bamford has the job for life. Get him out of here.
Re: Time for a new coach
well if we lose last three, Martin is definitely gone whether Bamford is fired or not

It’s legitimately baffling. For the life of me I can’t understand the lineup decisions.Floridafan71 wrote: Sun Feb 22, 2026 10:51 pm My vote is for new coach. Just a lack of good game coaching. Re: Time for a new coach
I'm totally in the fire Bamford camp. Maybe getting a new AD will light a fire under Martin's ass? I talked with a huge SC fan about Martin's coaching at UMass and he was genuinely surprised when I told him how poor UMass is defensively. I think Martin has been on cruise control a bit, maybe he doesn't even know he is on cruise control, but he is.Juice Stand wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 7:13 am Not that it matters, but I'm throwing my support behind getting rid of Bamford first. Oh yeah? Who's paying the 6 million dollar (give or take) buyout?stevemaz wrote: Mon Feb 23, 2026 7:55 am well if we lose last three, Martin is definitely gone whether Bamford is fired or not
Re: Time for a new coach
If I am the new AD the first thing i do it tell Frank to STFU or GTFO. Stop burrying your kids in the media and act like an HC with some accountability, and tone it down on the sidelines a bit. You win, you can do whatever you want, right now however you look like a SORE LOSER DICK.Sheck wrote: Sun Feb 22, 2026 10:57 pm Yeah if we had our wish of getting rid of either Bamford or Martin tomorrow (but could only choose 1) it would definitely be Bamford, no question. ^ haha, right on. I'm not sure you win many golf buddies with that kind of attitude, but having someone "in charge" with a clear vision would be a welcome change.
Re: Time for a new coach
Many are starting to see the light on this roster as well. Is Frank a good recruiter??? I say no he is not.
Part of the problem with this team is a sub-80 Baskeetball IQ. That is part of what Frank is recruiting and he sucks at that. Last year's team was not socring high in the IQ ratings either.
Clearly when you are making the same mistakes now that you were making in December, there is as much of a coaching issue as there is a player understanding issue. Low IQ player + stubborn coach = 2025-2026 results.

Hate to say this but having grown up in Mass and lived here most of my life, it's so obvious: bluest of blue Mass and a governor who is a total lefty I can tell you that Bamford nor Frank are not going ANYWHERE. Bam makes close to 1M and Frank is 2M and Coach Joe is like 1.5M. No one except for us fans give a damn about UMass sports. Bamford has been here over 10 years and needs to go ASAP. total embarrassment that hoops and football coaches make pretty much the most in the MAC and totally suck. Only saving grace is that we are full time MAC and it is near damn impossible to kick out a FULL member; not like the Big East kicked out Temple who was football only.
virtually any other state would be up in arms and Bamford would have been gone years ago. How he keeps his job is beyond me.
