Game 26, 2025-26: at Akron (2/13)
Re: Game 26, 2025-26: at Akron (2/13)
we are one decent player away in most of these games. It is tough to win with 6 reliable guys.

Did we play zone defense and still foul, or were we in man the whole time?MikeUMA wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 11:59 pm We continue to foul our way to losses.
We went into the night already worst in the MAC with 20.5 personals per game. We ultimately picked up 29, and sent the Zips to the line 43 times. That's our worst of the season in a 40-minute game.
Our inability to defend without fouling just kills us.
And then when the opponent converts at the .838 clip that they did, say goodnight Gracie. (That was the 2nd-highest an opponent has hit on us this season.)
I didn't think the calls were that one sided. Maybe a little in Akron's favor, but we just can't play D for shit.

We are carbuccia developing a reliable shot away. He doesn’t have to shoot lights out. If he can get his 3pt percentage to 30% and overall to 40%, and FTs to 70%…..stevemaz wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 8:27 am we are one decent player away in most of these games. It is tough to win with 6 reliable guys.

Tough to win when your team defense is horrendous. 1 player doesn’t fix that.stevemaz wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 8:27 am we are one decent player away in most of these games. It is tough to win with 6 reliable guys.

if you cancel today they will prorate that charge - it'll probably end up costing you less than a dollar - I do that a lot with other channelsBerkman wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 6:41 pm However I live in North Carolina. Si I bit the bullet. Spectrum has a entertainment and sport package that includes CBS SPORTS for $ 15 a month so I bought into that.

It could. We "just" need another Marcus Camby.

correct! it was weak - but its the rule - he threw a closed fist punch - and missed - but that don't matter - and honestly I think it fired them up and worked against us.

Didn't see it, but is this now the second MAC game where someone threw a punch at one of our players? I think something similar happened in the first Miami game when there was a tie up and someone threw a punch at Marcus Banks. Who was involved this time, and why does everyone want to punch us?MakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 10:41 amcorrect! it was weak - but its the rule - he threw a closed fist punch - and missed - but that don't matter - and honestly I think it fired them up and worked against us.

The punch was thrown at Danny. Banks came over after. The announcers called us a bully. Seems to be the national and league perception that we are “rough”.Juice Stand wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 10:48 amDidn't see it, but is this now the second MAC game where someone threw a punch at one of our players? My memory is a bit fuzzy from last evening, but didn't they walk back the bully comment after the 2nd replay angle clearly showed the punch being thrown? I thought they did, but I might be mistaken.

Re: Game 26, 2025-26: at Akron (2/13)
Another tough loss. What’s frustrating about this season is UMass’ top end talent is right there with any MAC team on offense with Banks, Bettiol, and Parker. Unfortunately the roster really drops off after the top 6 guys and the team consistently fails on the fundamentals of defense, turnovers, and free throw shooting. Frank just isn’t getting the most out of them.
As frustrating as it’s been, I am enjoying MACsketball a lot more than I thought. Don’t feel there’s any drop off in intensity from our recent A10 years. I do believe the program can turn around their fortunes in the league, but maybe not with Frank.

Re: Game 26, 2025-26: at Akron (2/13)
we talk a lot about lack of fans at games but Akron has won 2 straight MAC championships and 3 out of 4. This year they have 20 wins and are 11-1 in conference. They played on a Friday night at 9pm on National TV and they had 2100 fans. That's crazy to me. I know Akron's arena could fit inside Mullins but we draw 4000 and we think its pathetic.
Tuesday should be fun - I don't care if they are giving away tickets or selling them for $5 - students get in for free every game and they don't come so I could care less how the fill the arena - just get there and be loud!

Re: Game 26, 2025-26: at Akron (2/13)
Yeah that was weak. 28 straight home wins going in, they're the sustained class of the league, and they couldn't get 2200? And it was retirement ceremony night for one of their greats. Cavs were off, Cleveland's AHL team was off, what else are the locals doing around there?MakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 11:24 am we talk a lot about lack of fans at games but Akron has won 2 straight MAC championships and 3 out of 4. If I'm in Akron's Athletics Marketing I'm really disappointed.
