Game 27, 2025-26: Miami OH (2/17)

Post by MikeUMA » Thu Jan 29, 2026 2:16 pm

The rematch with Miami is coming on 2/17. Another Tuesday game, this one currently slated for 7 PM. I guess there's a chance that a TV network could pick it up and move the start time (as they did with Game 22). If that's gonna happen I think they have to finalize it next week, so there's a two-week lead.

Miami's slate between now and then:
1/31 Home for NIU (likely W)
2/3 at Buffalo (push)
2/7 at Marshall (push). Marshall is currently the second-best NET in the SBC, so they're a pretty good match for Miami.
2/13 Home for Ohio (likely W)

They're cutting it close in some of 'em, but they're still undefeated, and could be again when they visit Mullins.

Thinking ahead: I'm hoping Miami OH is still undefeated when this game happens. Mullins is packed with students, and we win and the students rush the court. The end.

Miami handled their business at home over NIU today, 85-61.

^ I watched the first half before heading out to our game and they did not look good. I think Miami only had a two point advantage at halftime. To win by 24 after that type of first half performance is impressive.

They were down double digits in the first half, big time turn around to win by 20+

Miami is up one spot to #23 in the AP poll this week. Their schedule before we face them at home is Buffalo and Marshall on the road, and then Ohio at home. If they can get through all that by our game, they might crack the top 20.

Miami got another narrow win tonight, 73-71 at Buffalo.

Four of Miami's last five have been down to the wire, average margin of 2.5 points (excluding the blowout over NIU last week).

Miami may still be perfect in the record, but they've been passed by Akron in the NET. The Zips were 50, prior to today's results (they beat EMU today), and Miami was 53.

Miami is OUR NEXT HOME GAME. Fans, please get out to Mullins for this one. #BeTheSpoiler

Miami OH went 2-0 last week to stay undefeated and moved up exactly zero spots in the rankings. The anti-midmajor bias in the polls is worse than it's ever been. Another example, St. Louis, who is 23-1 with their only loss coming on a buzzer beater by Stanford is only up to #18. Miami has one more game before they come to Amherst, at Ohio on Friday night.

Miami is now the only undefeated program in men's D-I, as Arizona lost at Kansas last night.

Miami hosts Ohio on Friday night, 9 PM on ESPN. Ohio is 3-6 in away games. Strong chance that Miami will still be undefeated when they visit Mullins in a week.

Joe Lunardi speculates about Miami's at-large possibilities

Let's ruin that conversation by beating 'em on Tuesday!

a friend of the family just bought the 2/$17 ticket package and he said there are pretty much no tickets left in the sections they offered. He said behind hoop had quite a few but A,B,C, X,Y Z had none

Still plenty of other seats but should have biggest crowd of the year - hopefully the students show up

Z, A, B are behind the hoop. How can there be quite a few there but none in the sections?

UMass sent an email out today to all employees offering two free tickets for this game and additional tickets beyond the 2 for $5 each. They have the same deal for the woman's game vs. Kent State later in the month.

So this could bring in a big crowd.
