2025 Playoff and Bowl talk

wow looks like there will be two crashers to the playoff, the winner of Va and Duke of all teams, and the G5 (looks likes winner of Tulane and North Texas).

I just counted and only 5 Mac schools are bowl eligibile and 82 schools overall with 12 going to playoffs in 4 bowl games. I forget how many bowl games there are now but i get the sense they are going to need a 5 win team or two.

As bad as it is this year, the ACC is still considered a P4 conference, so Duke would not be a G5 team. However, their opponent would be a free square in your bowl pool.

The rule is the five highest ranked conference champions, not the P4 champs and one G5 champ.

Duke isn’t ranked in the CFP and has five losses. It is within the realm of possibility that if they win and JMU wins, JMU and the American champ are both higher ranked than Duke.

interesting.. I bet Duke wins now just to shake it up a bit before the biggest change of all..3 conferences with 24 schools

If JMU gets into playoff it supports my thesis that our ultimate goal should be the 12th seed in the playoffs. If this isnt the goal then we should disband the program

It will which will be the final nail in the ACC coffin as currently structured. Also, committee flipped Bama past ND. If BYU beats Texas Tech I expect ND to be first team out

There are just enough 6 win teams so no need for a 5-7 team

I think more likely the rules will be rewritten to ensure that the P4 all get one bid. Either they will change it so it is the P4 champs and one G5 OR the P4 conferences will all make their conference championship game be between the two highest ranked teams in the CFP
