at the end of the day we all want them to be successful. I was at the Mullins a lot in the 90s. Hockey has been incredibly successful but to me the crowds could be bigger. ranked , entertaining etc. why dont they ever sell out consistently? i come to several hockey games every year. Would love to see smaller seating capacity for the Mullins. On the football side it seems mac teams avg 15k or less depending on the schools. the FBS growing pains have been hard. I would love to see Amherst become crazy Thursday through Saturday for football. Hoping!!!!!

Failure to compete. Turned it off in the 2d Q. Glad I didn't drive out from 128 for that S Show. Once again - an obvious personnel disparity results in a blowout. There's a ton of work to do improving this roster. Hopefully with Thorr focused on improving the program and w/a Full year of experience for Coach H we'll see significant improvement in 2026.

Northern Illinois beat us by 42 last night.
That was their largest margin of victory in a game away from home (neutral or visitor) since 2013, in their 63-19 win (44 point margin) on 11/2/2013 at, wait for it, UMass.

there was a poster here who said years ago that UMass football had "structural issues". could have been jj something or mc stats or whatever but he was totally right. He wasn't a troll but clearly knew football. We don't even have UMass 247 up and running. I'm a UMie and used to donate when Whip and Don Brown were around but not anymore. I'm really tired of making every coach look like Belichick or Vince Lombardi. This last one morbidly obese was pathetic. IT'S SO OBVIOUS THE PLAYERS AND COACHES HAVE GIVEN UP. They don't even try to win. How many missed FGs? How many muffed punt/kick off returns? How many strip sacks and scoop and scores? The Liberty game last year was "thrown" in my opinion. Jacob Lurie missed a 40 yard FG to win it. Kids in high school can hit 40 yarders.

bunkerhill87 wrote: Thu Nov 13, 2025 8:57 am Well hard to spin the narrative here. Umass Football is the joke of all college sports right now. Hard to be positive or even remotely hopeful for this to turn around. Just never figured it out. but again this proves my point of the mediocrity FBS football in New England and the Northeast. Really an unsustainable model for all of these teams. also curious about the argument that FBS football program is needed to "recruit" general students to Umass . Umass has elevated its academic standing the past several years without a good football or basketball team. We will never be a school that has that draw or appeal for kids. its not like the south in the SEC/ACC or midwest w/ the Big10/ Big 12 were the towns are completely taken over on a weekend. thats type of atmosphere that draws kids to those schools. Im sure many of you will disagree.
curious was there really 6 thousand in the seats last night?
You must have missed the UConn/Duke game last weekend: 38,000 showed up in East Hartford. The only team I hate is UConn and Jim Mora has done an unbelievable job. UConn is 7-3 and headed to a bowl. But Connecticut is a tiny state without pro sports so they rally around UConn. The state paid for a new stadium in East Hartford just for UConn football.
Connecticut is the only state in New England that has college football TV viewership that is noticeable for Nielsen. There is interest in UConn football but also college football as a whole. When UConn was in the Big East in the 2000s for football, it was as big a deal as the basketball program.

Why, was he coming to UMass to play football? Why keep bringing up where he applied to school? Weird
Are you just realizing Zoomass is weird? Guy is a lunatic poster who rambles about the same shit over and over. He’s also a fraud who said he would be at the game last night and never showed up. You just have to roll with his posts and understand that if you actually do read his ramblings you too will feel dumber.

So is Alabama his #1 or is he waiting on other SEC schools? The board is dying to know, so many of us are following this story

If UMass is smart, they rightsize their athletic department, eliminate football, and focus on fundraising for basketball and hockey. Get back in the Atlantic 10. Pledge to spend 6 million per year on basketball NIL and 1 million on hockey NIL.

Have 7 men's and 7 women's sports:

M/W basketball
M/W hockey
M/W soccer
M/W lacrosse
M/W track and field
M/W swimming and diving
W field hockey
M cross country

Much more sleek and the university could put all of its chips in on basketball and hockey. UMass has a well known brand. Use it in positive ways. You have a good hockey program. You have a good basketball coach. Take advantage of it. There is a reason that UMass and BC are going to struggle in football going forward- Massachusetts does not care about college football.

We drove up from PA for the game. Spent $300 at bookstore and stadium. Plus hotel.

And they tell US to go home?????
That moment was just another example of how embarrassing this program is. I was sitting a section away from the guy yelling at Joe (which I believed was rightfully so). Because there were less than 500 people on that side of the field at that time, you could hear it pretty easily. From what I could tell everything was directed at Joe and not any player. The players were telling him to go home down 31 or 38 or something.

Can you imagine the things that are said to players at ACC and SEC stadiums? You just don't even notice because they have more than a HS girls soccer crowd. Players were completely silent all game, no emotion from any coaches except the special teams guy. It felt like church at some points. I'd rather no football than whatever this is. Instead, ticket prices will probably be jacked up as the AD tries to catch up for the last 10 years of no investment.

Shouldn’t academics be the priority for your son? Or no, D1 football?
Scoop, you've seen all of Zoo's posts over the years, his son probably thinks his dad is nuts too.

His son should do a youtube/tiktok commitment announcement video like all of the top high school recruits for football/basketball do. Have a few cards lined up with the names of the schools he got accepted to and then have Zoo pop a balloon filled with the colors of the school his son is actually going to (gender reveal meets ZooMass).
