Re: Game 7, 2025: Buffalo (10/18)
Trying to manufacture/build a rivalry within your new conference makes sense, and of any of the teams, Buffalo would be that team to try it with.
With that said, the name is lazy and they probably could have done something related to the town name they both reside in. Also, having your media marketing partner (Learfield) tweet out that it is a "proud rivalry" and tag the wrong twitter account for the sponsor is a bit embarrassing.
It would have been nice if they stuck with what some tried to do with UConn last year as well, but *shrug*

From the UMass official site and can see one row with 12 seats and than a few more spread out. Idk, if they are prepared for SRO tickets.
Traditional football parking is sold out.
AMHERST, Mass. – Massachusetts Athletics is expecting large crowds for Saturday's Family Weekend events, with some traditional parking areas already sold out due to high demand.
Please review the parking updates below for Saturday, Oct. 18, as UMass hosts men's soccer (noon), football (2:30 p.m.) and hockey (7:30 p.m.) — and plan ahead for an exciting day on campus.
Football
Traditional football gameday parking lots surrounding McGuirk Alumni Stadium have reached full capacity for this weekend's game.

Reminder, this is due to:
-Band Day, and
-Family Weekend
It is a nice boost to the attendance numbers, but it will be a massive outlier and without those things, this would be another 10k, at best, attendance.

I'd say about 3k or 4 sections for band day. There is always a promotion at these games. Don't know how much if any discounts are available for this one. Pretty sure Military, police fire, EMT etc on the game around Veterans Day do sell tickets around the group ticket rate.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Thu Oct 16, 2025 12:36 pm ^

Homecoming had 10k, but also think the time of year and good forecasts play a role. It has zero chance there is slightly more appeal being a FBS Buffalo team.

Agreed that the name is lazy and that tag of the wrong twitter account is embarrassing. They just can not get out of their own way, even on simple stuff like this. I'll be interested to see what the trophy ends up looking like. My hope is that they'd have some fun with it, but it will probably just be a boring run of the mill trophy design.

I'd prefer rivalries to be developed organically, but I'm fine with what they're doing. As soon as the MAC move was announced, Buffalo was talked about as a natural rival since they are the closest program geographically and are also in an Amherst (emphasize on the "h"). I've seen a lot of moaning on twitter about it, and the same people that rip the department for emphasizing the Amherst in UMass Amherst are now calling for it to highlight the Amherst. Some people just like to complain I guess (not directed at you, IV).InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Thu Oct 16, 2025 12:21 pm Trying to manufacture/build a rivalry within your new conference makes sense, and of any of the teams, Buffalo would be that team to try it with.

To be fair, I am one of those people, though it isn't the department that emphasizes the Amherst, it's the school. With that said, one can still be against the use of UMass Amherst, and still be ok with recognizing both schools are located in towns of the same name.

That's fair. And for what it's worth, I agree with you. We should be UMass or Massachusetts, not UMass Amherst.

I always assumed that in addition to the end by the band, but also sections 20 and 19 are for students. While there are few reserve seating tickets being shown, there are many, many general seats available and the app indicates they are for sections 19 and 20.

Probably because they know students won't actually be going into the game.

We will find out if the coach reading the riot act to coaches and players has any effect on the outcome of the game. I doubt that we will win but hopefully we will be more competitive.

Probably the best we can ask for at this point.Berkman wrote: Fri Oct 17, 2025 1:00 pm We will find out if the coach reading the riot act to coaches and players has any effect on the outcome of the game. I doubt that we will win but hopefully we will be more competitive.

LOL. I don't have the answer, but here's a trivia question. When was the last time a high school band kid saw a UMass football victory on "Band Day?"InnervisionsUMASS wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 5:06 am Game day. Thoughts and prayers out to any of us going.

I knew it was bad, but i didn't know how bad.. UMass is averaging 6.4 points per game against FBS opponents. Thats historically bad... makes sure if you're going to the game today, allow for a little extra time.. weaving around all the 75 year old hippies at the no kings rallies will slow you down.

Does anyone have a link to the two deep list for today's game?
