No Coach. H - Not "we". YOU got a Quarterback issue and YOU got to solve your QB issue.

Hairston and Rose are deservedly in the doghouse together b/c neither could successfully matriculate the ball down the field and get a TD. But we're onto The Kent State Golden Flashes.

Coach H needs to fix his QB issue. Enough w/the QB rotisserie it's been a failure. Who''s next Will Perry? If Will can move the ball, doesn't take dumb sacks and get into the end zone - the job should be his to lose since neither Hairston or Rose could get the job done.

Whoever it is, Coach H must decide who his Quarterback is now to get the offense well prepared, game planned, in synch, organized to avoid dumb penalties and prepared to fire and block together. Figure it out. Not having a dedicated starter is hindering the development of the team.

"When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on" FDR.
While 100% agree it has taken way to long for the QB situation to be resolved by the coaching staff, I want to believe they have it figured out. Time will tell, but while tailgating and talking to parents of players, they did not come out and say it, but knew that Rose had the Western start. Believe the coaches and players know the starting QB.

I was extremely aggravated that the defense did not adjust until after the Bryant game. Hoping to see the same kind of change for the offense with Kent. I want to see AJ and they adjust protection for him. Coach H made a point to mention how Western adjusted their defense for AJ. Let's see if we have the answer.
I have to be honest, that's an alarming statement from a guy that is the face and head of this program. Doesn't exactly scream leadership when you put stuff like this out there publicly as the HC.
We all have opinions and did write coach H after the Bryant game, via the administrations as he does not have a direct email. Saying do believe, but now think it will take 3 years and we don't like waiting. I was way too optimistic. Saying the things we all see, nothing earth shattering. Rene on the podcast said, that his reading the tea leaves from coach's H Monday presser said it differently, but did say he thought Coach H was going to tear down the program, not tolerate any infractions and next year have to develop the high school kids and could take an additional year.

The coaches, who did not turn things around in year 1 are many, but ultimately succeed and do believe in the players, coaches and the administration. The sad part is I will have to listen to the usual suspects, complaining, talking fcs or dropping football etc. as they get their kicks in. Or perhaps their way of expressing their frustration at the expense of outward perceptions of future recruits, their parents, current players etc.

For the record, predict UMass wins by 10 or more. Thinking Victor Cruz and Liam Cohen. As long as we see AJ as the game QB.
Be proud of the present and look to the future.

If Umass doesn't win this game, they are not winning any this year....

I honestly thought they could get to at least 3. What a fucking train wreck - they are actually worse than last year. I did not think that to be possible.

Wow - just WOW.

Wait, the season is over to make that assessment? Think we beat Kent and NIU and hoping for more. That would be 2 FBS wins compared to 2 FCS wins. So definitely not worse. I was way over optimistic and did not expect the growing pains with the coaching staff. The standard is progress.

Steve, stop trying to throw NIU into a winnable game again! They are a far better team on paper than UMass. Kent St is our true one winnable game remaining on schedule.

Yes Steve, they have 1 win but they have been competitive against decent competition in all of their losses. Their defense only gives up 21ppg. Meanwhile, Umass gets blown out every game. On paper, no one is taking Umass over NIU

MSC would back this up. NIU is 7th in their latest power ranking. Unsurprisingly, we're still dead last.

Certainly debatable, but I don't take it the same way. He's speaking the truth. If he said anything more positive, when the results clearly aren't there to back it up, he'd get called out for wearing rose colored glasses. Don't read too much into it.

He's taking his share of responsibility, and he's issuing a challenge to the QBs to be better. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Still Kent -2.5 today, at least per ESPN.

On a neutral field this might be a pick 'em game. A little surprised that this isn't a little more in Kent's favor, but I don't think the books want any part of this one.

Somehow both teams are 2-3 ats. Kent had 3 games getting 40+. They were shutout last week, down 44-0 after 3 and still covered.

Don't know if this is indicative of anything BUT.....I'm a CPA so numbers are my friend: right now we have a SRS of -17.92 but since the move-up, that is the 6th BEST of the 14 seasons.....2019 and 2020 were insanely bad and Gomer did a ton worse than Molnar. If it means anything: we beat Kent State at Kent State exactly 11 years ago OCTOBER 11, 2014.

If we lose to Kent St., the UMass social media account will have the chance to do the funniest thing and tell it's fans to go home, look themselves in the mirror, and take ownership

I used to donate and got the little helmets etc but I’m just numb to it now. I’ll always be a UMie but I’d be in shock if they ever won another football game. Honestly, the Sacred Heart game is UMass’s Super Bowl. If we lose that one I’d like to see the program shuttered and maybe restarted sometime in a few years. Don’t know how all the other sports in the MAC would be affected.
