2026 Officiial Visits and Commitments

Post by Steve81 » Sun Jun 15, 2025 11:14 am

Tis the season for Official Visits and hopefully commitments.

UMass is having an OV weekend with 13 high school recruits. Elkins committed in January , so 12 prospects. We have been weak on the defensive and glad two defense recruits have gone public early. So far 5 of the 12 have committed to UMass!

Massachusetts tight end Matthew Tybor commitment.
The Minutemen have landed a commitment from Pennsylvania defensive tackle Samuel Mulbah.
Christian McCollum '04 Jun 15, 2025

UMass was the 6-foot-3, 260-pounder’s first Division-I offer when it arrived back in January. He also received an offer from MAC rival Buffalo along with several other FCS programs.

Mulbah proved his versatility in high school with his ability to perform inside and outside on the defensive line at a high level.

Stay tuned to Minuteman Command for more on Moore’s commitment and the rest of the huge official visit weekend.
2026 DE Cooper Long Commits To UMass
The Minutemen have landed a commitment from 2026 Connecticut defensive end Cooper Long.
Cooper Long knew what he was looking for in a college.

“A place to call home, just a place that I feel that I'm wanted and that I can fit into their program,” the 2026 Connecticut defensive end told Minuteman Command.

And, Long found exactly that in UMass, which is why he committed to the Minutemen earlier this week.

“It's close to home,” the Salisbury School standout explained.

“I visited there a couple of times. I love the atmosphere at the games and it just feels right. It just feels like home.”

The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder picked up his UMass offer at camp a week ago.

“They'd been looking at me,” he said. “They wanted to see me at camp to see how I can move and they liked what they saw.

“I definitely did well with my hips. The footwork was great and when it came to the one-on-ones, I balled out.”

Long also had an offer from Army along with several FCS programs.
Massachusetts tight end Matthew Tybor has made his commitment public.
UMass’ first true official visit weekend under head coach Joe Harasymiak appears to be an extremely successful one by any measure.

The Minutemen hosted a dozen prospects in the 2026 recruiting class in Amherst for official visits and we’re told multiple players offered their verbal commitments to Harasymiak and the staff while on campus.

We anticipate these prospects will go public with their commitments soon and we’ll let you know as they do.

Massachusetts tight end Matthew Tybor was one prospect we had our eyes on coming into the weekend based on our conversation with him leading up to the visit. The Lawrence Academy standout has announced his commitment to UMass.

Tybor told us he was also seriously considering Army and Liberty, but the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder was obviously sold on what he experienced in Amherst this weekend.
And for whatever reason, it takes 247Sports a while to rate our players. Anticipate it will be longer than we like before the 4 new players are rated.

Fourth commitment is public from this weekend.
New Jersey quarterback Tyler Bell has announced his commitment to UMass.

Minuteman Command spoke with the 6-foot, 185-pounder twice prior to his visit to Amherst and the St. Peter’s Prep star made it clear UMass was extremely high on his list.

“The energy was great, the coaches were great,” he told us prior to his visit. “The team had that energy going and it just seemed like a fun place to be and a great team to be a part of.”

This is a huge score for Harasymiak, offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian and assistant quarterbacks coach Drew Belcher.

As a junior, Bell threw for 1,965 yards and 27 touchdowns while adding six more touchdowns and 400 yards on the ground.

Not only does UMass now have a quarterback who can help be a leader for the 2026 class, it has a future signal-caller from a prestigious program that regularly produces high level college players, including quarterbacks.

Stay tuned to Minuteman Command for more on Bell’s commitment and the rest of the huge official visit weekend.

After an awesome Official Visit, I am excited to announce my commitment to UMass Football
From Minuteman Command
CB Corey “Deuce” Warner

Warner, a Louisville, Ky. native, attends Dupont Manual High School, and is one of the recent offers that the Minutemen have handed out. His conversation with UMass defensive coordinator Jared Keyte earned him an offer on June 3, 11 days before the official visit weekend. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder is a three-star recruit with a 73-inch wingspan. He has received seven offers in total that include MAC teams Toledo and Bowling Green.
Add an additional not involved in this weekends official visits.

Getting some really nice emails about UMass commits lately. St. Peters Prep starting QB coming to UMass sounds incredible to me. St. Peters Prep is basically the powerhouse of Hudson County, NJ and they play the best teams in the state. The competition he plays during the season tells me we're getting a guy that can come in and start right away.

He looked very good in the films posted and we did sign 2 more tonight. No need to to post about them now. But will say this class is turning out very good at adding to the defensive side, and excellent QB and some recruits with a good number of others offering. I'd know about ratings from 247Sports as a lot are unrated at present, despite having multiple offers. Think they will slowing get around to rating them.
Best to visit and subscribe to MinutemanCommand and here is the recruiting page. https://www.minutemancommand.com/t/recruiting

^3 sport athlete (wrestling, shotput, football) at NJ Powerhouse St. Joseph Regional. Keep focusing on North Jersey baby! We've seen a lot of great talent from offensive tackles recently who also excelled in wrestling in high school/college. Ton of athleticism there.

DEFENSIVE LINE
CJ Amobi
Amobi is a Drexel Hill, Pa. native who attends Monsignor Bonner High School. The 6-foot-3, 230-pounder end has received 14 Division I offers. Some of the most notable ones include Cincinnati, Army, Navy and more. His high standard in the classroom is forcing Ivy League schools to fight for his commitment, along with the Minutemen. After a successful home visit from UMass defensive lines coach Nyeem Wartman, the Minutemen officially offered Amobi back on May 21.

We've landed a boatload of commits for 2026. I wish I had some idea about the quality with so many of them having no ratings. Also, the other offers for many of them are not great. The good news is that that they all have a year to improve. Hoping for the best but still somewhat skeptical.

Glad to see this one for this fall.
UMass Announces Official Signing Of Star Edge Rusher
One-time West Virginia signee Romando Johnson rounds out the Minutemen's front seven for the 2025 recruiting class.
Above is from Minuteman Command and below from Frank's blog.
Johnson could be the top transfer signing of this period. He was a high three-star player and was ranked a top-100 recruit in Florida. He received 30 offers (!), including Boston College, Cincinnati, Florida, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi State, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.

Defensive end has been a long-time weakness in UMass' FBS era. Johnson could be an impact player for the Minutemen and in the MAC.

Mater Dei RB Justin Lewis has committed Massachusetts, per his IG
The "Orange County Register" ranks him as the 2nd best running back in Orange County. Orange County, CA is a huge hotbed of high-level recruits. The article is behind a paywall so I can't link it. Not a superstar, but a good get for us. He has 13 offers: just about all of the Ivies and all 3 service academies.

Wow #2 RB in Orange County goes all the way to Amherst, Mass? Mater Dei plays high level high school football - this is an incredible pickup.

^ Mentioned UMass on ESPN telecast yesterday.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."
