UMass is having an OV weekend with 13 high school recruits. Elkins committed in January , so 12 prospects. We have been weak on the defensive and glad two defense recruits have gone public early. So far 5 of the 12 have committed to UMass!
Massachusetts tight end Matthew Tybor commitment.
2026 DE Cooper Long Commits To UMassThe Minutemen have landed a commitment from Pennsylvania defensive tackle Samuel Mulbah.
Christian McCollum '04 Jun 15, 2025
UMass was the 6-foot-3, 260-pounder’s first Division-I offer when it arrived back in January. He also received an offer from MAC rival Buffalo along with several other FCS programs.
Mulbah proved his versatility in high school with his ability to perform inside and outside on the defensive line at a high level.
Stay tuned to Minuteman Command for more on Moore’s commitment and the rest of the huge official visit weekend.
The Minutemen have landed a commitment from 2026 Connecticut defensive end Cooper Long.
Massachusetts tight end Matthew Tybor has made his commitment public.Cooper Long knew what he was looking for in a college.
“A place to call home, just a place that I feel that I'm wanted and that I can fit into their program,” the 2026 Connecticut defensive end told Minuteman Command.
And, Long found exactly that in UMass, which is why he committed to the Minutemen earlier this week.
“It's close to home,” the Salisbury School standout explained.
“I visited there a couple of times. I love the atmosphere at the games and it just feels right. It just feels like home.”
The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder picked up his UMass offer at camp a week ago.
“They'd been looking at me,” he said. “They wanted to see me at camp to see how I can move and they liked what they saw.
“I definitely did well with my hips. The footwork was great and when it came to the one-on-ones, I balled out.”
Long also had an offer from Army along with several FCS programs.
And for whatever reason, it takes 247Sports a while to rate our players. Anticipate it will be longer than we like before the 4 new players are rated.UMass’ first true official visit weekend under head coach Joe Harasymiak appears to be an extremely successful one by any measure.
The Minutemen hosted a dozen prospects in the 2026 recruiting class in Amherst for official visits and we’re told multiple players offered their verbal commitments to Harasymiak and the staff while on campus.
We anticipate these prospects will go public with their commitments soon and we’ll let you know as they do.
Massachusetts tight end Matthew Tybor was one prospect we had our eyes on coming into the weekend based on our conversation with him leading up to the visit. The Lawrence Academy standout has announced his commitment to UMass.
Tybor told us he was also seriously considering Army and Liberty, but the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder was obviously sold on what he experienced in Amherst this weekend.
Fourth commitment is public from this weekend.
Another this morningNew Jersey quarterback Tyler Bell has announced his commitment to UMass.
Minuteman Command spoke with the 6-foot, 185-pounder twice prior to his visit to Amherst and the St. Peter’s Prep star made it clear UMass was extremely high on his list.
“The energy was great, the coaches were great,” he told us prior to his visit. “The team had that energy going and it just seemed like a fun place to be and a great team to be a part of.”
This is a huge score for Harasymiak, offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian and assistant quarterbacks coach Drew Belcher.
As a junior, Bell threw for 1,965 yards and 27 touchdowns while adding six more touchdowns and 400 yards on the ground.
Not only does UMass now have a quarterback who can help be a leader for the 2026 class, it has a future signal-caller from a prestigious program that regularly produces high level college players, including quarterbacks.
Stay tuned to Minuteman Command for more on Bell’s commitment and the rest of the huge official visit weekend.

Warner, a Louisville, Ky. native, attends Dupont Manual High School, and is one of the recent offers that the Minutemen have handed out. His conversation with UMass defensive coordinator Jared Keyte earned him an offer on June 3, 11 days before the official visit weekend. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder is a three-star recruit with a 73-inch wingspan. He has received seven offers in total that include MAC teams Toledo and Bowling Green.
