Thanks, but I'll either be watching UMass vs. Richmond in MLAx, and/or Cornell vs. Harvard in MLax, or switching back and forth.

Anything BUT the UMass FB Spring game.

I am not an acolyte for UMass FB, you are....Different sports for different folks.

But, I DO appreciate your passion for CFB, maybe you should have gone to ND, 'Bama, or Georgia, right?

Each state has no significant Pro sports competition.

Then just stay out of this forum... why do you even bother? Stick with the Lax forum and move on. There's no need for constant divebombing here.

Haha, Econ is such a turd. I love the idiots on here that shit on one sport because they feel like doing it for no good reason. Lax in general is zero interest to me as a sport but I still root for UMass Lax and want them to do well.

Spring game today at noon. Should be a great day for it, 75-80° for some April football. Didn't it just snow here last week?

New England weather.
Looking out at our pool and the sunshine, with the nature reserve abutting us behind it.
Mrs SM texted me yesterday with pic where she is...Breckenridge.
Snowed there 2 days, but they are clear enough to drive back to Golden today...I-70 treacherous in bad weather...very scary driving through the mountains.
Good day for some beers back in Golden.

Enjoy game today.
Back in MA mid May for a visit.

I understand that college sports had a lengthy time advantage over Pro sports, but Indiana ; Indianapolis (Chicago is closer) and Georgia; Atlanta do have pretty significant Pro sports.

Hey, we had errands to run and just got home. :P

My wife and I had a great time today. Historically, we haven't been to a lot of spring games or the fall practices because of proximity, but we moved back to South Hadley in 2023, so we've seen a few recently.

Compared to last year's spring game, this one was run like a game and was far more interesting to watch. I thought QB Jordan looked quite good, and several receivers made great passes. Also had some decent runs with good blocking, and at least a few pressures on the QB by the defense. Compared to the fall practice last year, the team seems far more organized and disciplined. There were a few penalties called, but it was mostly a very clean game. The players mostly seemed to know where they needed to be, and there were only a couple of busted plays or miscommunications on offense.

Punting was excellent early in the game and field goals were decent, just one missed 48-yard kick which went wide, but it had the distance.

We left feeling very optimistic, especially given how many new faces there are. The receivers look taller and lankier, and there were a few great catches. Both Hairston and Jordan looked pretty solid, the O Line looks bigger and both lines played with discipline. I feel like we're ahead of where we were this time last year, but I'm not an expert. I just get that "vibe." I'm really glad we went.

Went today as well.. AJ has the better arm but he Yale transfer was more well rounded. My friend who has worked there for 30 years and has seen practice said this team wont lose on dumb mistakes.. they will lose because they are less talented. The whole game was much better run and the team looked that way. This coaching staff expects perfection

Enjoyed the day and surprised by the attendance. There use to be 200-300 people attending but today looked like a thousand. Was able to move my seats and add a season ticket. Looking forward to the season. Yes to 4 wins. 5 wins is possible, a goal to win more games than any other season as FBS. 6 games would be great, but not expecting it. Portal round 1 players looked good and lets see how we do in portal round 2.

Yale QB looked legit. AJ didn’t look good, which was a surprise after how well he threw it last year.

Question for those way smarter than me: the young man in a ref jersey chasing every play and waving a white towel, what is the purpose of that?

I guess he does that every day in practice.. he waves the towel when the whistle blows.. I think it's for tempo. So on film they can see when the whistle was then and then how fast they get into the next play. A buddy told me they go really fast in practice.. everyone knows where they need to be and when

The other thing that made me happy was watching lineman pull on running plays.. it wasn't just the zone read all the time. Line looked more athletic.

We have grad transfers onboard that couldn't participate yesterday because they are still in school elsewhere. One I know about is Kyle Brown, an All-Ivy O-line from Dartmouth. He was also All-New England by the New England Football Writers. He is a large lad headed for Isenberg.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."
