Been awhile since last post.
Today will be be a fine dining experience.
Will report back.later today or tomorrow.
Leaving in less than 2 hr with friend with car on isle, driving to cove with restaurant's power boat picking us up to take us to The Hut, on Little Jumby.
Staff trained by interventional hospitality pros, food reviews excellent and the $ comparable to.some other Antigua restaurants we indulge at periodically.
Will dress nicely...good opportunity to wear some of new clothes hand made by our coutiere.
Mrs SM looks lovely in her sundress.
Always possible that some well known could be there.
Bono and The Edge were there a month ago, same day as Michael Jordan, who flew in.on his private jet to try it.
His $80M yacht is probably here in English/Falmouth Harbors. Whatta blast it would be to shoot around on the yacht's court (dreaming).
Nearby Jumby is private island with private homes each with private beach. Never been there.
Extremely $$$$$.
Mrs SM will.be 75 a week from.today. A bunch of friends will gather some day next week to celebrate, along with new friend's 76th next week.
Sisters, also friends, from Canada, their idea, their nice deck for it.
Thinking of all.of you.
Would beam.you all down if my current Rocket Science project didn't have testing approval delayed.

We went to Din Tai Fung in Seattle last night. Taiwanese restaurant. They claim that the NY Times once called them "One of top ten restaurants in the world." No argument here. We ordered four items. I'm still trying to survive the spicy wontons. :)

Maybe one of the top 10 chains but definitely not restaurants - that would be a smack in the face to chefs around the world  There are over 100 Din Tai Fungs. Regardless, still a yummy meal. How do you like Seattle btw? I still haven't visited - I plan to do a Seattle/Vancouver trip one of these long weekends. Canlis in Seattle is a classic and I've heard great things about Altura - they are on my list.
Anything food and wine related, I am a big enthusiast and have been very lucky to enjoy drinking and eating at some of the top restaurants. I'm in Switzerland right now, you would think because squished between Italy and France the food here would be next level but it's rarely the case. The nature and landscapes are certainly next level though - just like the NYC skyline, it will never get old.

^ Yes, knew it was a chain. Three in the Seattle area. You can find this on various sites of theirs: "TOP TEN RESTAURANT voted by The New York Times." And then there is this: "Din Tai Fung has received Michelin stars at multiple locations, including in Hong Kong, Taipei, and Seattle."

Sorry if chefs are insulted world-wide. :) I enjoyed last night very much. Big space that was packed on a dreary weekday night.

This place is the top of the heap right now it seems: https://www.thepinkdoor.net/

As for liking Seattle: Four days of drizzle and fog so far. I'm the "spouse" at a conference, so not all that much getting out and about. We went yesterday to the Chihuly glass museum, where we had been many years ago. That is the only must that I know. On other trips here, walking in the Pike Place Market and taking a Bainbridge Island ferry ride are things I remember.

^LOL
The only thing they have in common is the "Hut" in the name.
"our" (Antigua) The Hut...
I believe there are two others in the U.K.
Colwell Bay, on the Isle of Wight, is Michelin rated.

Jeez, talk about false advertising, Seattle does not even have a Michelin guide. Their original location in Hong Kong had a star until 2014 and now their primary original locations are bib gourmands, which are my favorite. I totally recommend downloading the Michelin guide app when traveling, it's great to use, and I always go after the bib gourmands - delicious food for the best value.

I guess the Seattle stereotype of rain is no joke eh? Definitely hitting up the Chihuly glass museum on my trip there, looks AWESOME!

The #1 bib gourmand right now in Seattle is the aforementioned The Pink Door. "Roving Tarot Reader" Sorry we missed it. :)

Let's Eat, Again SM back with more from SW FL

I realize that it would take a really great reach to expect to find an outstanding German restaurant comparable to the superb Student Prince when it was
Rupprecht Schleff's masterpiece.
Hard to believe that it's been almost 29 years since Rupprecht has been gone.
Well, if you are in SW FL, please try Black Forest, a wonderful German restaurant in Naples, in a mall @ Immokalee & Airport Rds.
We went, for the 1st time, a couple of weeks ago and were blown away by how good it is, and a very close #2 to what once was Rupprecht's Student Prince in Springfield.
We went on a Sunday nite, after calling for a reservation mid afternoon. Inside seating was booked, so, at the recommendation of the owner, Claus, we dined outside on the very nice patio, which has heaters for when it's a little chilly out.
We both ordered the saubraten, to compare it to the same @ the SP back when. We were not disappointed.
The sauerbraten, served like @ SP, with spraetzle, red cabbage, & potato dumpling , s superb. Very large portions, enough for leftovers for another meal, very $reasonable...$26 for the sauerbraten entree.
Service was excellent & owner, Claus spoke with us.
I told him about the Student Prince and he had heard about it.
They have Weihenstephaner Hefe, ice cold on tap, served in a large tall glasses, for $10, a very nice beer with German food.
We were pleasantly surprised to be given a very large piece each of their outstanding Apple Struedel, free on Sunday and Tuesday nites...open only for dinner from 4 p.m.
We returned for dinner on Thursday. As he told us to, I called Claus in the afternoon and he set aside a table for us inside. He had read the Google review did after the first time & was very pleased with it. He assigned excellent waiter, Juan, to serve us.
We got two different entrees to try, their Long Island Duckling & Black Forest chicken. Both were really good and we will have the leftovers for dinner tonight.

Besides having the best campus food for 9 years in a row, we now have a new "food" recruiting tool:
The food channel released its list of “50 States of Pizza Slices,” highlighting its top pick of pizza from each of the 50 states. The Massachusetts pick from Food Network was Antonio’s Pizza By The Slice in Amherst.

Although founded in Amherst, the restaurant has eight locations across the country — four in Massachusetts, three in Rhode Island and one even in Texas, according to its website.

Ian's in Madison WI, one on State, rated #1 in Madison & other on N Francis...Pizza same as Antonio's, apparently a cousin of Antonio's.
I've eaten at both more than once when daughter & now Son in Law lived there. Was a pleasant surprise and very good...
Like in Amherst, on very cold winter nights, the Student & young professional kids would be there.
