Proud of these guys, they really wanted this one! Would've been so easy to just say screw it.

WOW! Nice win. Glad I stayed up to watch it.Diggins out of the world! Rivera too.Almost 4 hours. Digging deep.

I'm guessing we set all sorts of NCAA records - fouls, foul shots, guys fouled out, etc. Yow!

So happy with the win!! Got a little bit nervous in the beginning of the 3rdOT. Just wow with Diggins record performance, pucking in all. Believe Rivera had a personal best as well.
Be proud of the present and look to the future.

I'm proud of the team for not quitting when things got bad in the 3rd OT. I wasn't able to watch the game, so I don't have any comments, just getting my info from the box score and play-by-play. Looks like we got good contributions from Nate and Akil in OT.
Can someone please tell me exactly what happened at the end of OT1 when we fouled a 3-point shooter up by 3? Was it a legit foul or a ghost call?

Thanks. No 3s then. I’m guessing both Vermont games were in regulation.

But it's the way he finishes his motion and did hit the arm. The same when Worthy knock the ball out clean and tried to finish the steal on the floor but continued through with full upper chest and the foul.
Be proud of the present and look to the future.

Diggins hit a free throw with 1.1 seconds left. Fordham inbounded near the right sideline at mid court. Fordham player threw up a shot, Rivera contested the shot and got him on the arm on the follow-through. Legit (and DUMB) foul.69MG wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 11:10 pm I'm proud of the team for not quitting when things got bad in the 3rd OT. Can't say enough about Diggins. Threw up all over the court in the first half (and then several times into a trash can). Had to change his jersey. Came back in and had the game of his life. Toward the end, he was so exhausted that he was sitting on the floor during a timeout. One of the gutsiest performances I've seen in a UMass game
Re: Game 18, 2024-25: at Fordham (1/15)
^ Thanks for the info. I just looked at the play-by-play again in the 3rd OY. I didn't realize we held them scoreless (or they held themselves scoreless) for the last 2 minutes and we scored the last 6 points of the game. That's a hell of a comeback and I'm happy for Rivera that he got the winning bucket after committing that foul. I saw the video of his game winning basket and it wasn't an easy shot.

Yes. And, Tom’s history can’t both be “great” and irrelevant. Movement culture is nearly impossible to reclaim once undermined, and I am not talking about “annual finishes in the league.” That’a another topic.TheInsider wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 3:05 pm .... but "profound damage"??
….But are we really doing damage to our annual finish of 9th in the league??
Remarkable win last night. On to Ypsilanti.

Absolutely agree here. Wanted to comment as well. Best to absorb the winNilesGold wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 10:51 pm This was such an absurd game on so many levels. I will save my criticism for another day, and just say that I may never forget this one.

My fondest UMass basketball memories were all the games against Temple and then the A10 playoff and championship games against teams like Penn Sate, West Virginia, and Xavier.. yes.. it will be sad not to play in some.of the places we are used to. But are we really doing damage to our annual finish of 9th in the league??
The amount of schools that have bailed on UMass and the A10 is astonishing... and we're here complaining about finally moving on from the A10... it's nuts.
Grow with the times or get left behind. We've been left behind far too many times, this change is long overdue.
Your point is very good about all the schools that have bailed on the A10. What is unfortunate however is that almost all of them moved UP while Umass is take a step or two in the other direction.
Oh now doubt... we've been left behind and have to play catchup. That path isn't much fun on the b-ball side.

What a way to say Goodbye to Rose Hill as an A10 member! Nice to enjoy an epic and ridiculous game that we came out on top of!

Sports Center says no on fouls and foul shots. Most fouls since 1917, and most foul shots since 1997. I have not seen the record on guys fouled out. Our game had ten.Old Cage wrote: Wed Jan 15, 2025 11:09 pm I'm guessing we set all sorts of NCAA records - fouls, foul shots, guys fouled out, etc. Yow!
