I was going to comment on this and also how he treats Njingue. Any coach in America would want a kid like Jayden on their team - I know Frank praises him off the court a lot but he has rode him hard this year. I noticed last night after about the 5th time he ridiculed him - Jayden just stood up and stared at him - didn't say a word, didn't shake his head, just a hard stare. To me that means he's done with his BS. I can't see a scenario where he comes back next year - why would he? he busts his ass - hits the deck about 10 times each game only to be screamed at.stevemaz wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 8:33 amjust based on the low attendance and how quiet those that are there are, I would say FM is done in MarchJuice Stand wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 8:12 am Some choice quotes from last night. "What are you doing!!!?????!!!????" *arms flailing

Then there were some that I guess could be considered helpful coaching.
"Rebound the damn ball!"
"Pass the damn ball!"
Yes, rebound and pass. Good tips.

Crazy that you got all of that from a stare - "One stare tells a whole future".. sounds like a slogan from a filmMakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 9:43 amI was going to comment on this and also how he treats Njingue. Jayden does not do much for the team offensively and yet he still had the 2nd most minutes yesterday, I think we all know how valuable Jayden is for us
You can have this or a coach like McCall who let every player walk all over him.. either way we're gonna complain about something, it is what it is

if you were there you could tell that was not just a stare - it was an FU stare! I'm not saying to get rid of Frank but why would a kid like Jayden who busts his ass and leaves it all on the court want to get constantly berated - if he played for any other coach he'd get hugs and hi fives as he walked off the court.inthescoop wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 9:49 amCrazy that you got all of that from a stare - "One stare tells a whole future".. sounds like a slogan from a filmMakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 9:43 amI was going to comment on this and also how he treats Njingue. I did not call for his job, just pointed out the things he says so people that are not at the games get some context. We've all had worse things yelled at us, but when you're a coach those things should probably be vaguely in the coaching, teaching, motivating, or helping categories, none of which those are.bmc24 wrote: Thu Dec 19, 2024 9:38 am All coaches are different. I’ve had worse things yelled at me. This is Frank’s style. Let the man do his job and stop calling for it.
"Get your dumb ass out of the game, get your dumb ass out of the game" was shouted across the court at Jayden Ndjigue, who earned a start in every game his freshman year, and hustles and works as hard or harder than anyone on this team. He doesn't deserve a pass, nobody does, but he deserves better than whatever the hell that is.

I just saw this about Frank and Jayden. Good on him for acknowledging and talking about it.
https://twitter.com/SchultzRyan12/statu ... 3217379367Frank Martin apologizing for his actions towards Jayden Ndjigue
“I berated Jayden Ndjigue in that first half today and I shouldn’t have don’t that. He’s too good a kid….Were fighting together to create an identity, and Jayden gives us the identity”

I still don't understand the Jayden stuff... kid was rock solid as a freshman last year and is clearly showing his value to the team once again. The start of this year is still perplexing.

I was curious, so I went back and looked to refresh my memory... Pipkins had one awesome season in 2017 and made the A10 2nd team... aside from that no UMass guard has been on the A10 1st, 2nd, or 3rd since Chaz.

I really hate to do this, but I can see it. A lot of Franks courtside coaching reminds me of Kellogg at this point. Not the way he treats the players, but the way he just barks our commands.
He is not coaching, he is just yelling one words demands .... BOX OUT.... REBOUND..... PASS. That was all DK did on the sidelines too. He seems to have some of the same catch phrases too? "We need to play harder" etc....
WTF Frank? Play harder doesn't mean anything.
You need to set better screens
You need to move without the ball to get better angles
You need to make sure the players know to switch or stay on defense
You need to teach players to crash the board instead of just watching a shot go up
YOU need to do a lot of things that DO NOT include simply "playing harder"

^ At least Frank doesn't stamp his feet. I found that particularly annoying.
Re: Coach Frank Martin
I'd rather see a coach with a bunch of signs with instructions.
or with eclectic messages only the players understand.

The angle of incidence = the angle of reflection: REBOUND!
Re: Coach Frank Martin
^ Frank: "Perambulate that zone of containment!!"
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."
Re: Coach Frank Martin
That would present a significant challenge re that long word I'm not familiar with.
On the other hand, my left, being a righty, there is a cheat sheet that is telling me to place the letters around the arc.
Three times.

You might be right Eldon. I hated watching Kellogg scream about nothing and then smirk after he’d yell. It was almost like he knew he had no business coaching a D1 team but might as well yell to play the part. I don’t know, this season is turning into a dumpster fire.
