Didn't we lose like 50 players to graduation? Seems we got much work to do. Lets try to keep most of the current crop. Then build.

FBS head coaching jobs don’t grow on trees.
Coordinator jobs in big 10 are better than coming to amherst/Northampton/belchertown for umass football.

Until someone changes that. It took a no-name Assistant coach in 1988 to change UMass Basketball. Rather than shitting on this new coach, I'm going to root him on and hope for the best.

That worked out great for Cal. if JH can even get Umass bowl eligible you'd think he'd get a good shot at a solid P4 HC next- and honestly I'd be ecstatic if he was good enough to be poached after a few years.

And only 4 signees today. BC had 27 for comparison

BC also didn't just fire their coach.
Uconn only has 11.
UNC Charlotte, who also just fired their coach, also has 4 so far.

Oh I don't care. It was 30 years ago. What I dont do is act like umass has some blue blood hoops program because they had a good 5 year run 30 years ago with a few good years sprinkled around. Same could be said about football program. Honestly....I could get on board if bammy wasn't around. I know what he has done to people and what kind of person he is from things covered up by him.

No one (me) said or insinuated that we were some "blue blood hoops program"... I simply referenced a shit program being taken from shit to the top of the sport by a no-name assistant coach.

You can hate the football program for whatever reasons your little heart desires (Bamford, in this case), but the right hire by whoever the fuck the AD is can change things, and we here at UMass have a perfect example of that.

When Bell and Brown were both hired, I had a bad feeling about both of them.I didn't have it for Whip and really don't have for JH!

CM was a blank sheet other than coming from ND.

No we did not. There were 30ish players who had eligibility expire. The extra two dozen or so are RSJRs who may or may not stay. They will graduate from UMass, but may stay for a year to play.

Hope a lot of Rutgers players come along with him--especially on defense and special teams.

Welcome JH!!
Wish this had taken place 2 coaches ago but glad we got him this time.

Glad to see UMass stepped up with the staff salaries finally and the NIL monies will help him in recruiting. All in all a good day for UMass fans.

100%, build out bathrooms/concessions and build a FBS/NFL level for the first few seating rows surrounding the field.

Seems like a good hire for us. All I wanted was a guy that was successful at an FCS school or better as a head coach and he checks this box. We'll see how it goes, I'm sure the Springfield College connection between Bamford and Joe originally brought them together.
Love that there’s a Springfield College connection. My daughter graduated from there. I’ve been impressed with SC since day 1.

BTW…their football team is 11-0 and will face 11-0 Cortland in round 3 of the NCAA D3 football tournament Saturday at noon. The game is on the +.
