2024 Game 4: CCSU
Re: 2024 Game 4: CCSU
Left at the half. Been around since fall of 1958 and that might be a first. More disgusted with the penalties than the bad football.
Total lack of coaching control!
Also out of control: game took 3 1/2 hours.

"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

My bad. Just been a very long 12 year experience and the response is always next year.ZooMass84 wrote: Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:27 pma wins a win cut the shitbunkerhill87 wrote: Sat Sep 21, 2024 7:11 pm Became a dumpster fire, stayed a dumpster fire, will always be a dumpster fire. Cue…”you don’t know shit about college football, DUN!” (as he chuckles to himself for another clever retort before taking a swig).

I watched on my phone. did i miss anything worthwhile? i hope the UMMB was entertaining. Glad for a win- but the defense seems dreadful. Did they record a sack ? what a hot mess.

If there was ever a umasshoops rough and rowdy, the main event would be D_U_N vs Creep. Your battle is more entertaining than this team.JoleonLescottsHair wrote: Sat Sep 21, 2024 8:11 pmEnjoying a rare win by the Minutemen. How about you, CREEP?

Glad we won, as we should have easily. Need better coaching.
Re: 2024 Game 4: CCSU
All of these comments did put a smile on my face because I may have said all of them while sitting in that dump of a stadium. I would have thought it was impossible to give up 31 pts with only giving up 11 first downs.
Our coaching has been terrible and why the F do we not have a full time Special Teams coach. The onside kick was ludicrous as our guys literally just stood there behind the 50. However, the game should have been 42-17 based on the stats so that should tell us that our main issue is with the coaching/mental mistakes.
Now for some big picture sanity from everybody's favorite "nut", Steve Maz. Talent wise this team could be 4-0 right now.. I am sorry if this offends any or all of you, but it is true (a great coach with these players would be). First downs, yards, turnovers all are good measures of a football team and UMass has been solid on all three so there are things we can point to as signs that the ship has begun to turn around. I think there is going to be a good base for the next coach to build on and i expect that to begin this December. Look at Buffalo..they are now 3-1 with a win at Northern Illinois yesterday so I would imagine their coach is the primary reason as they do not have better talent than we do. I expect us to be in every game the rest of the way except at Georgia. Yes, we are going to keep it close for awhile vs the overrated Mizzou team and the game at Miss State will come down to a few plays (They are worst SEC team that has been put on the field in the last 10 years..).
Whether we finish 2-10, 3-9, 4-8 or even 5-7 will come down to how DB and staff can minimize the foolishness. I do not think DB will be our coach next year and I do think the UMass administration is going to go all in on Football with the next coaching staff.

Re: 2024 Game 4: CCSU
Wonderful time on campus pregame, as usual. I watched every minute of the game, as well as the locker room celebration and postgame presser by D Brown….evidently he thinks he just knocked off Missouri and his star QB is the front runner for the Heisman. I guess RB forgot to point out that they struggled to barely eke out a win over a middle of the road FCS team serving as this year’s sacrificial lamb on Homecoming.
CCSU came in as a 20+ point underdog and if it wasn’t for a crippling holding call on a big first down run by Brady Olson, could have walked out with a huge upset win…. adding more fuel to the grumbling about the leadership of this program. Personally, I found it hard to not root for Olson and the underdog Blue Devils…, they played their butts off and almost did the improbable in forcing upper leadership’s hand to get this team and athletic dept on a better track.
I came away with the impression that this is DB and RB’s comfort level, middle of the pack FCS, and they came away with a new found rival and equal from across the border…. for those aspiring for something more out of this program, last night’s performance and post game reaction presented more questions than answers in how you’re going to get there.

Pretty sure that Gresh said that CCSU only has 46 scholarship players on the roster. Then said that they didn't have use of the "helmet communication" system for the game. (surprised at that one, considering it must be an advantage to have use of this, and why wouldn't they either disallow it for UMass or give CCSU a helmet system for the game.) Struck me as odd.

Re: 2024 Game 4: CCSU
NEC teams are only allowed 45 scholarships per team. FCS teams have to pay for the helmet technology when they play at FBS teams stadiums. NDSU paid when they played Colorado.photoman wrote: Sun Sep 22, 2024 8:21 am Pretty sure that Gresh said that CCSU only has 46 scholarship players on the roster. The NEC is the second from the bottom of FCS conferences, only over the non-scholarship Pioneer League. This game really showed how bad the UMass program is at this point. Seeing Brown smiling so much at the end of the game is actually really sad. Talking about the 24/25-year-old "kids" who are being paid, just shows how the game has passed him by sadly.
Re: 2024 Game 4: CCSU
The penalties were the killer for me, from both sides. The most undisciplined game I've ever watched. Lack of focus made it really tough to enjoy
