looking at the home games I see at least 2 potential Friday night A-10 game of the week - Loyola and Dayton - maybe even Richmond. I know we won't get three but we're due to get at least 1 of these and 2 is realistic. Depending on how good we are those could be the largest crowds of the Frank era.

If the regular season ends any other way than Rhode Island at UMass or UMass at Rhode Island than that would be an absolutely tremendous fail by the conference. We've been conference mates for the better part of 80 years, long before the Atlantic 10 was even a thought, so you should be leaving the conference schedule against us.

Ideally both teams would find a way to wear throwbacks for our two games or at the very least traditional uniforms. I wouldn't even be opposed to honoring legends from both sides at these games. Really think these last two games should be celebrations of the rivalry. It really sucks that after this year we won't have a conference rival, especially since they'll try and force Fordham down our throats as our rival.

At the least, alternating home games with URI is a must. Maybe pick 1 or 2 other A10 teams and do that as well. It will help the OOC strength of schedule instead of playing so many cupcakes.

On a side note, I'm starting to feel a little more optimistic going into this season. Our D and rebounding should be better. Hoping that Curry makes the same jump that Sool made from year 1 to year 2 and we find another 3-point shooter (maybe Nate). This is assuming that all 14 guys are here. Last year we lost Wildens at the last minute and that hurt us.

A little clip on Sool from this off-season.

There are rumors of a "regional" FCS school joining the MAC per Fornelli...

Are there other likely potential candidates?

That would actually be really cool to have URIne the MAC.

I could see Stonehill trying to take this leap.

I don't think they fit into the MAC at all.

I could absolutely see Northern Iowa making the jump and they would fit right in. I could also see Albany but that seems less likely. Going to shoot a text to a former supervisor there to see if they've heard anything.

St. Joes and SLU seem to have done fantastic in the off season, so playing them on the road sounds tough, but only 1 is a road game (that's OK). Richmond looks pretty good too; good to get them just once and at home. Looks like shorter trips; I think the longest rides from Amherst are SLU, Loyola, Dayton and Davidson and all 4 are home only. Can't say it's a good or bad schedule, as the conference has been so unpredictable. I hate to see Bonnies as a road game, though. Dayton and VCU are always good and always hard to win there.

While I agree, I don't think the conference officials will have that kind of foresight. With our luck the final game will be at Fordham or maybe LaSalle.

The point that was made was a regional (I assumed that meant New England) FCS team was thinking of making the move. Stonehill, Bryant, are two schools trying to move up fast it seems. Neither fit the MAC demographic. I could see both try to get to FBS soon.

Sorry that st.Joe’s won’t play in the Mully during UMass’ final A-10season.

Dean Wendel of the Collegian:
another home-and-home for UMass/Harvard after their series over the last two years concluded.

current UMass MBB OOC schedule:
@ West Virginia
v. Temple (Mohegan Sun)
v. Florida State (Mohegan Sun)
@ Harvard
v. Arizona State (Springfield)
https://x.com/DeanWende1/status/1807873 ... 7XhZw&s=19

This is a really solid group of games. None are in Amherst, but 4 out of 5 are in New England, so it should give casuals and out of towners a chance to see UMass in some high level games. Frank quoted and said he hopes to have the schedule complete by next week.
