Lebron would get him fired in a month.

Unless he drastically changes his coaching style, he won't last long in the NBA. But I'm going to assume he'll get an offer that he probably shouldn't say no to, and I don't blame him.
Also, fuck him.

Re: Dan Hurley to the Lakers?
Anyone remember a certain UMass alum who failed miserably as the coach of the Celtics? Not sure Hurley can coddle adults making millions of dollars, which is what you have to do in the NBA. As the saying goes, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out".
Re: Dan Hurley to the Lakers?
Cal failed with the Nets too.
College to Pro is not for everyone. The fails are more prevalent in Football, but there are a lot in Hoops too.
Hurley would be a complete fool taking his talents to the pros let alone the Lakers. Le-douchebag would laugh at him the first time Hurley started yelling like a lunatic.

I don't know. Read a quote the other day along the lines of " take the megadeal, get fired after 2 yrs, and collect the rest while you live large". He'll get a huge offer

It's a no brainer. Take on the challenge (and the money). Even if you fail, there will be a line of teams waiting for your with open arms (and wallets) back in the college game.
Re: Dan Hurley to the Lakers?
Hurley's problem (or maybe not) is that there is not much more he can do at UConn. It gives him a ton a job security and not a bad paycheck. Unlike Ollie who inherited a National Championship team, Hurley built this himself so he has waaaaay more leash.
Does he want the challenge of something different, or does he want to take a shot at becoming the modern day John Wooden at UConn? LA is a terrible option in the long run, he will be forced to take on "Little Bronnie" and kiss that kids ass as long as Big Bronnie is in the house. Davis will be too old in 2 more years, and he will have a bad roster on his hands that was forced on him all because they had to cater to Big Bronnie. Fuck that.....
I think he is an obnoxious asshole and would love to see him crash and burn in LA.... Ultimately he is gonna be a rich man either way and he has earned it - as much as I detest him.

This might end up happening. I actually think Hurley could be an effective in the NBA and I could see this working if they do a complete rebuild. They’re not going to win right away but Hurley didn’t win right away at Rhody or UConn. It would be similar to the situation Brad Stevens inherited with the Celtics. LeBron can opt out so Hurley may not even have to coach him (or draft Bronny).

That's wishful thinking... you think a guy that screams and yells the way he does will be successful in that league? There's no way he changes his style.

Hurley is a fucking lunatic. I find it hard to believe that is not his true personality on the sidelines, and that is not going to fly in the NBA. Again, Calapari tried that shit when he went to New Jersey and look what that got him (in the NBA).

Yeeeeep. And he'll make a ton of money doing it, then be able to relax, and then (likely) have numerous top schools making him offers to come back to college. It really is a tried and true method for a certain type of top college coaches.

His whiney on court demeanor leading the Fakers, my least favorite team in the NBA! Bring it….

#1 - No one cares about Uconn outside of CT.
#2 - He will make a ton of cash. The money, the lifestyle. If LA wants him, they will get him.
#3 - It is a win either way. If it works, he will have won at the ultimate level where so many other college coaches, including Cal, have failed. And for the NBA's premeir franchise on top of it. If it doesn't, he takes the money and goes back to college and does it again there like Cal did. And, he picks a spot a lot better than rural CT for his return.
#4 - The balls didn't bounce the right way for Rick Pitino in Boston. If he gets Tim Duncan, history would likely be a lot different. He made a bet that the Celtics would get him, and lost. And it is hard to build in Boston via free agency. In contrast, it is a lot easier to get super stars to head to LA than Boston, so I suspect that would help as well.

No to derail the actual subject here... but I've always been of the mindset that Rick and his style would have ultimately led Tim to leave in Free Agency. I don't think they would have had enough success in Tim's first 4-5 years to warrant him wanting to stay here in Boston. It might have kept Rick around longer, sure, but looking back on things, I don't think the Tim Duncan sweepstakes ends up with Championships in Boston with Rick at the helm.
