Vinson ended his career with more games started than anyone in UMass history (128). And who could forget this previous year when Chris Lowe went end-to-end before floating in a buzzer beater with help from Matt "The Pick" Glass in win over URI (72-71). This was the same year that Lowe passed Carl Smith as career assists leader with 634th in a win over St Joe's.
I was sitting right behind the Memphis bench that game, and they were getting so frustrated as we started cutting into their lead , arguing with each other. Then they were totally deflated on TV's game winner. Such a great ending

Mike Williams was just so confident and money late in games, ice water
The Pick-another great UMass memory!

100% with regard to Mike-gone way too soon. Without a doubt on my list of all-time UMass favorites!

Incredibly clutch play, but is it a game winning shot if UMass was already leading? Harper hit that with UMass up 72-71, to make it 75-71 with 30 seconds left, and Syracuse didn't score again. 77-71 final.

I took a picture of the TV with the score because I couldn't believe we won that game. For me, that turned the corner for UMass hoop

Big shot, no doubt. But it is not a game-winning shot.

I remember the full court drive by Trey Davis (with a body slam block by Matt Glass) against URI that sealed a win with a little floater over two defenders.

Chris Lowe, not Trey.

Will Herndon in Albany against Siena in the NIT, OT game winner but by no means was it a buzzer beater. He scored the only 2 points scored in OT. The buzzer beater was a Tony Barbee 3 to send the game to OT and the NIT Final Four. UMass had gotten the ball over half court and called a timeout with a second or less on the clock. During the timeout the Siena announcer was giving out info for the buses that Siena fans could take to get to the FF at MSG. So great to see that crowd deflated faster than you could say TB 3!!

I was out of my seat and walking down the steps and Holy cow Tony Barbee. Thank you for reminding me of that memory....one of so many great ones over the years, those teams were special.

That was Jim McCoy's basket in OT, not Herndon's. McCoy's hoop came with about 50 seconds left and put UMass up 82-80. Don't think I've seen another game, at any level, where the two teams combined for only two points in an overtime period.

There are 3 that all resonate in importance for different reasons (in no specific order)

- Harper in Worcester
- Barbee in Albany (pretty sure that was an NIT game???)
- Williams in the Preseason NIT against NC

As for the "Other Shot" that resonated - it was not one shot but a whole bunch when Lou Roe kicked the shit out of Arkansas almost by himself in the Springfield Civic Center.

That is easily my favorite of all the Umass games I have watched - #2 being when they finally beat Temple in the cage to end that ridiculous 20-something game losing streak to them.
