The one great thing about this board is that we can express ourselves there is no "moderator". On the other board I called Bell "Gomer" as in Gomer Pyle after the SIU loss and was told that I was being "harsh" and "give him a chance". Yeah we saw our 2 wins in 3 seasons.......a horrendous Akron team and a UConn team that only lost because their coach had COVID and couldn't make the trip to Amherst.
I don't know but I'm sure it exists in Big time football but I'll bet someone/ a booster says to the kids: I'll give you $1,000 for every ball you catch or $100 for every yard you run or $5,000 for every TD you score.

If they lose to Merrimack and go 0 - 12... All I know is I will be gone. Hopefully it doesn't happen and they bring in some good players and start turnings this around.
You two are bad fans and CLEARLY don't know what you are talking about...... the 2022 Minuteman Football program was Markedly improved from the 2019-2021 teams....... MARKEDLY IMPROVED FFS!

The sad thing is that this program [almost] cannot go any lower, meaning they only have one direction to go. ANY improvement by percentage will be HUUUUGE and some jackoffs [no pun intended] here will boast all over that. If they win just 2 games - they will win TWICE AS MANY as last year..... do you know what that is? A Marked Improvement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Y'all need to stop playing checkers while Jack is playing chess!
Eldon,

there are three things wrong about what you said:
1) bad fans- I go to games, follow on the TV (NESN) but they are not there anymore so WCRN, AND DONATE!!!
2) Marked improvement- we are SRS -19.38 compared to -21.27 last year (2021). its slightly better
3) Cannot go any lower- that is false. sorry but we actually can. we're 190 out of 261. yes we can go to 261.

How many hundreds or thousands of posts have I made between this board and the other and emailing Bamford have I done? I want to us to do well in football but after 11 years of losing its obvious. The one saving grace is Massachusetts is the second richest state so there is basically infinite money to keep this debacle going. like DD said, if we lose to Merrimack then he's gone. right now they would kick our ass. GET RID OF CASULA NOW. 55 yard TD called back because of illegal formation??? THAT IS UNFORGIVABLE. the WR didn't check the line of scrimmage. what we paying the coaches to do? lose, apparently.
Um sarcasm bro...... You and I are on the same page.

Dennis understood my post - I guarantee it.

I think this guy would be a perfect fit in Steve (fat body) Casula's system.

Would have to get lucky after the numbers he posted this year at Marshall….to quote Dumb and Dumber, “ So you’re telling me there’s a chance!” 😁

He was being facetious. BTW covering up the receiver is the player’s fault 99% of the time. It is their job to look down the line. That is not support for Casula BTW. These are D1 football players. No way he should have covered him.

yeah I get that & he just said it too. BTW I heard back from Bamford and the email said: Happy Holidays!!!! I brought up all the important points and especially that Casula has to go and that is the response I got. UMass football is obviously finished. When Bell was coach the response I got was: the "culture" is improving. Now it's Happy Holidays. When your AD is good with 1-11 and 3 wins in 40 games then you know nobody gives a damn if the team ever wins a game again. Like I said, if Casula is retained then we go 0-12 in 2023. We're not even a decent FCS team anymore. We got lucky playing Stony Brook last year as they are #228 out of 261. We're pretty much at the Patriot League and Pioneer level now. Maybe Bamford can get Stonehill College on the schedule.

No offense Zoo, but unless you have some kind of personal relationship with Bam (and probably even if you did) he is not just going to tell you the plan. You can express your disappointment / anger / frustration all you want, but I am sure you are one of many reaching out to tell him that.

If that is the verbatim response, you got the canned response that he gave everyone else. I would be surprised if he even read it. Anyone can sign an Email "Best Wishes, Ryan Bamford".

That said, another 1-11 season next year is probably going to lose a high majority of those still hanging on - "marked statistical improvements" or not.

No worries Eldon!!! maybe a miracle happens next year and Casula becomes that great OC that we need. I love stats & numbers and our passing defense was 10th best and our rushing defense was 15th worst. Unfortunately we had the 3rd worst offense in FBS. Next year we get New Mexico at home so maybe that's a win.

^ Any guess as to why the pass defense was rated higher. Maybe because it was so easy to run on UM and the with the big lead opponents stopped passing!

A quick review of Yards per Completion and Yards per Pass Attempt puts UM at #50 in each, which are much better ways to evaluate Passing Defense than yards per game for the previously mentioned factors.

it is because other teams had big leads, so were running the ball a lot in the second half. That said, The defense was representative and if the offense was the same, there would have been a few more wins.

The NMSU game was an absolute killer for me: blew a 10-0 lead and then even when we were down 1 score late in the 4th quarter we punt it back to them instead of going for it 4th and 3. then they threw a bomb over the top for a TD to ice the game. Shit like that I can't forget. Swear to God this program is snake bit: lost to Temple in 2015 on the blocked PAT they took it to the house we lose 25-23. Watched last night's NFL game and even Baker Mayfield had a great game and he'd only been on the team 2 days.

Had NMSU not had that bye before playing us I'm sure we could have beaten them. They would've been beat up from the San Jose state game. too bad the kid died but that's just typical of what this program faces: our players try hard but the coaching sucks and we never seem to get the calls (see the Eastern Michigan game). always PI or ineligible receiver/formation kills us.
