This isn't the worst option out there, and it would be preferable to another year of McCall that's inevitably going to fail. But if UMass has the money, there are other options I'd prefer, i.e. Archie Miller.

Niles, Archie Miller just got a 10m$ buyout, money most of us on this board will never see! 10m$. He does not need to coach at UMass.

Those buyouts usually have a stipulation that the coach find employment elsewhere in order to collect the money. So if he doesn't take another head coaching job he'll have to find a job as an assistant somewhere or on TV most likely.
Give WBB more money.

yes sheck off-set language. Derek Kellogg had off-set language in his contract. It is rumored his first two years at LIUB he was making very little as Bamford had to pay him to coach else where. Archie Miller or Prince Archie are not going to be at UMass coaching because it is time to #BRINGHIMHOME

Rick Jr. just got the axe at Minnesota. He was 141-123 in a very tough conference. Just another name to ponder.

He has to now hire his assistants...
Do you think that Schmidt would have ever went to BC? I think that BC pulled the trigger on Grant knowing Schmidt wants to stay with the Bonnies.

I don’t think he was in the mix, probably told them he wasn’t interested. Shrewsberry and Gates(his wife is an associate AD there) were the other possibilities there. I think they really focused in on Grant late though.

This is all fun and games, but isn't this all a bit silly now that Matty V has said nothing has changed and McCall is coming back? Maybe change the title to "Would would you hire as HC after McCall?".

IU AD Scott Dolson indicates one rich booster paid the $10 million to buy out Archie Miller, and another booster paid to help hire the next coach.

This should give everyone on this board who wants to fire all the coaches and AD some perspective. Indiana fired several coaches who had success in the NCAA tournament but wanted someone to get them to the final four. Instead, they went the other way. Archie Miller grabbed the brass ring but couldn't deliver while he was a huge success at Dayton. Both sides failed though Miller pocketed some big bucks.

UMASS does not have deep pockets and the support of the state like Indiana does to fire everyone. Until we grab lighting in a bottle again, we need to adjust our expectations for a while.

It won't be Dwayne Killings.

Albany will announce Marquette asst. Dwayne Killings as its next coach today, sources say.
@jeffborzello first reported last night. Killings was also previously an assistant at UConn + Temple. Rising star. Steve Wojciechowski’s had three assts in as many years land head jobs.

Looks like Richard Pitino is likely to become the next New Mexico coach. Will be interesting to see the contract because don’t tell me that New Mexico can do better than UMass. Their AD wasted no time, I like that AD.

Pitino has burned too many bridges to ever return to UMass.
