2020 Recruiting

Seems to be a lot of Indiana and South Carolina chatter for Cross so I am betting he will not be the easiest fish to reel in.

I know we offered that Farris kid -- I think we will need some more help up front with Baptiste and potentially KTM both bidding adieu after next year. Would leave Tre, Sy and to a smaller extent Samba (I think he would be fine in some spots playing as the 4 next to Tre). I wonder if we are looking at that Dominguez kid from New Hampton or his teammate Trey Hall.

Other somewhat realistic New England kids that sound...wait for it...intriguing...based off my usual array of very little: Richard Springs (although he may be ticketed for UConn), Enoch Cheeks, Daillion Johnson, Tyler Kolek, Myles Wilmouth and Cairo McCrory.

Springs is headed to Woodstock with Jacque and he is going HM...he should go to Villanova because he is an NBA player if Jay Wright gets him.

Kids that want to go high major more power to them, but I think it's been pretty clearly shown that if you have the talent, you can go just about anywhere and succeed. Kawhi says hello and so does Ja Morant. If you like UMass, come to UMass, it won't affect whether you make the pros, and you just might get more playing time and exposure.

I see on Twitter that Matt Cross is taking an official to Indiana this weekend. If he has ambitions beyond UMass (can’t blame him) then I hope he makes that clear to the staff so they don’t waste resources going hard after him. If he’s taking officials now, I’m guessing he’ll be committing before the high school season.

The A10 typically has zero representatives in the NBA draft. For a kid harboring NBA dreams, the A10 should be no more than Plan B.

He's not coming to UMass and I am quite certain the staff knows this.

exactly. just because there has been a self-fulfilling prophecy of kids stacking up talent at Kentucky/Duke etc. doesn't mean if they went to UMass they won't get drafted. They might even have a better chance with more playing time.

Matt Cross would be just as big a get as Mitchell was! Kid is legit and I have to believe Bergeron will have a HUGE influence over where he goes. The familiarity he has has with Bergeron, Mitchell, Weeks and Santos is a huge factor.

Cross + Johnson sounds good for next year. Adding a couple 4*s would make our program pretty fierce given who we have coming in this year.
