^ No. While that would be nice, the Power and Class perform every year for a long standing town tradition called "Merry Maple." If anyone here knows what goes on there, enlighten us.

Ahh, that's a shame. I figured maybe because they were playing our fight song it would be related to UMass athletics.

There are only 34 steps but they're wide so that can translate to 68.

Nice win over UConn. The 'story' will be how this team deals with BU and BC. Those 2 teams are how 'street cred' builds. And, the season before XMAS is viewed differently than the 'woes of winter' after December.

I have to say that I have rarely been more relaxed about a UMass team coming back from a deficit than this team.

Bring on the rest of Hockey East!!!!

Fun game to watch. Del Gaizo's goal was right in front of me and it was a thing of beauty. UConn has a couple of HUGE players. One was standing next to Farmer on a face-off and Farmer looked like a little kid next to him. We will have to clean up a few things before we play Q. We gave up the puck more than any other game I've seen and our D on a couple of their power plays was shaky. But---we have a lot of guys who can out the bisket in the basket and that makes up for a lot of shortcomings.

In it's 43rd year, it's a town celebration welcoming the holiday season. Usually starts before dusk with the a school chorus singing carols at town hall. The Minuteman Band will dress up like Christmas presents and march from Haigis Mall on campus to Town Hall, leading Santa who's riding atop a fire engine. Older UMass fans or Amherst townies will remember Gerry Grady as Santa, now played by District Atty David Sullivan.

At town hall, the band gives a concert of holiday tunes, with cocoa, cider, and donuts served by the folks at Atkins. The town lights up the maple tree on the common.

The band's tuba section has a silly (fun) tradition of splitting off from the band (as it makes it way up North Pleasant St), marching into CVS and other shops along the way.
