Game 3 (2017-18): Union
After a split with ASU, the Minutemen head back to the east coast to take on Union in Schenectady, NY on Friday. Union is 0-3 this season, but their record doesn't tell the whole story. They lost 4-1 against #2 BU (although BU scored two empty-netters with under a minute and a half remaining). They also had to play a very good and underrated Michigan Tech team and the #3 Minnesota Golden Gophers. So, they've been tested quite a bit in their first couple of games. Hopefully we cut down on some of the turnovers and make some crisper passes. There were a lot of freshman mistakes against ASU, including a bad turnover by Cale Makar that turned into a Sun Devil goal. That being said, some of the freshman did impress me. I couldn't quite tell which players were out on the ice all the time, but from what I could tell Lagunov, Leonard, and Gaudet stood out a little bit among the freshman forwards. And boy oh boy can Cale Makar fly on the ice.

Team looks good out there and is really dominating this game. From my perspective they seem to be improving already l.

Final is us 5 - 4. Nice start because Union usually has a good hockey team.

This just in...No NCAA Division 1 hockey team has ever lost a game when two Nikos score a goal. Could be a record that is never broken. Great win tonight. Let's roll AIC tomorrow night.

For those that are barely awake - we were ahead by three with 1:45 to play.

^ So, you're saying they lost the third period 2-3?
Great, gives coaches something to use during meetings and skate around today.

Does anybody know why we play Union (OOC games)twice in 6 weeks both on the road?

^My guess would be because its a short road! Two trips to lovely Capital District (Albany/Schenectady/Troy) would be better served if one (1) of the games was RPI.

College hockey scheduling has always seemed weird.

Re: Game 3 (2017-18): Union
Another team backed out of hosting UMass due to its own scheduling issues. UMass scrambled to find an opponent to fill their schedule. Has nothing to do with the “weird”ness of hockey scheduling.tdmass wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2017 10:42 am Does anybody know why we play Union (OOC games)twice in 6 weeks both on the road?
