Game 1 (2017) Hawaii
Re: Game 1 (2017) Hawaii
^ How about coming out for the game? It's not like it's a 5 hour drive, and the weather looks great.

Maybe Photoman has other obligations. I have season tickets and live in the Pioneer Valley, but have missed games due to my children's soccer and hockey games and/or practices, etc. In fact, I waited until start times were announced this year to renew my tickets since I knew I couldn't make it to many 1:00 p.m. kickoffs. Luckily, 3:30 p.m. starts for most games is great for me since the kids can get their Saturday sports done and we'll still be home at a decent hour.
Getting back to the game, I think this is Pinkham's game to win. We know we have the offense, so if the defense can step up as a unit we'll have a good chance.

I try to get out there when I can. Unfortunately the 3 hour game requires 8+ hours of the day. Plus I'm doing my part to build up the TV audience.

From the Hingham/Weymouth area it is a 5 hour round trip.DrG wrote: Mon Aug 21, 2017 9:30 pm ^ How about coming out for the game? It's not like it's a 5 hour drive, and the weather looks great.

Next up, people complaining about the distance and inconvenience to Gillette...
Save your breath... you'll need it to blow up your date
Re: Game 1 (2017) Hawaii
As someone who comes from Hanover, it most certainly is not a 5 hour round trip.

At big boy football schools, people drive for hours to go to games. Just saying....
Re: Game 1 (2017) Hawaii
Not too bad for me...4-hour or so round trip. Football is the best because the tailgate means more time spent out in Amherst. Love hoops, hockey and lacrosse, but tougher to justify the long drive for the shorter games. Still make it to some games.UMass02 wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2017 9:03 pm At big boy football schools, people drive for hours to go to games. Just saying....

Break up the drive with a stop at the new Tree House brewery on the way up.

It's a new year; 75 degrees, sunny, low humidity.
Re: Game 1 (2017) Hawaii
Come by and say hi at our tailgate on Sat. I am flying in from California today and very excited about the possibilities for big wins this year. Look for the New City shirts on Stadium Dr. and join me for a beer and some food at our tent. Really proud and happy that you will be able to get New City Minuteman Pale Ale in the Commonwealth Club. Go UMass!
Re: Game 1 (2017) Hawaii
I don't live there... only relied on Google Maps which said 2:15 each way.... I think adding 15 minutes in and out traffic was reasonable.
Now I'm sure you (and others) can make up or lose time based on driving habits.

Drive time can make a lot of difference on your age and the time of the game. It is a lot easier for someone under the age of 60 to make the drive than a person over 60 or like myself at 80 especially if you are making the drive alone.
