You mean Godwin's law LOL?

Godwin's law is an Internet adage which asserts that "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hitler approaches, that is, if an online discussion (regardless of topic or scope) goes on long enough, sooner or later someone will compare someone or something to Hitler.

Hah! That's very interesting..

I have responded in here for a bit because who the hell knows what Bamford is doing at this point, and it's not in any of our control. So sit back and enjoy the show, what's the point of stressing now.

who here is stupid? You're getting defensive because I called out your barometer for success. It is low. It is really low. I'm certainly not the one in need of a safe space. It really easy to tell when someone feels like they're losing an argument because they say things like "you're stupid" and "youre a fucking idiot" hahahaha get real bud. My point was about what you consider to be successful, not are we going to hire another Ray Wilson. But thats okay man, you have like 600,000 posts on here so your opinion is fact.
My barometer for success is not low, regardless how you'd like to spin it. DK ended up being mediocre. He is now gone, simple as that. I pointed out a very stupid statement by someone else. I'm sorry you didn't like that, but it's a factual statement that we could hire someone worse than DK, and historically we have before.

You got your panties in a bunch when I used the term "final four" a year or two ago. You then brought it up again today, as they are still clearly bunched up. Yeah, I was the one losing an argument, "bud"

For whatever it's worth, I have a strong feeling that Bamford is going to go with a young-ish up-and-comer.

In order for a coach to speak with a player on another team, that player must have a release from their school. I imagine that RB is not signing any releases until the new HC has met the players.
That's true, but it doesn't stop players from tweeting or posting that they plan to transfer. Once the initial shock wore off, the players have been pretty quiet and I take that as a good sign.

^^

As he should. It's worked before. I think Bamford looks at someone like Greenberg as a worst case scenario. I doubt it would ever get that.... but then again we dealt with that week.

Exactly- I have been pretty quiet here just for that reason. Who "I" like and who "I" think would be a good hire means nothing - "I" means everyone except Ryan Bamford of course. It would be nice have a definitive name to look up and learn about but RB is not playing that way..... it is funny how much people "know" here. :D

Shrewsbury is the confirmed name - every other name has been speculation at most.

You got to think RB is making his decision very soon, maybe even today. But I wonder how long it will be before he confirms his choice this time, given the fun we had last week. I'm going to guess Thursday we get the official word.

One would assume nothing is said until the dotted line has a wet signature.

Assuming the last interview was yesterday, I gotta think RB made his decision yesterday. Get an MOU signed, confirm that a resignation letter was sent & received by current employer and off we go. They don't have the luxury of waiting several days or weeks until the full contract is reviewed by the lawyers and signed off on.

Maybe even until the press conference. A wet signature may mean nothing after last week.

If we still don't have a coach by tomorrow, wouldn't it be safe to assume that Micah is not the guy?

Said it before but will say it again, would love to see John Groce at UMass. Apparently Dayton is very interested in him right now so it may be too late though. Typical.

I feel like the longer it goes the closer we get to crean. If the short term goal is competitive big time athletics to get us (football) into the aac it will be very helpful to have Tom Crean sitting there helping us make the case. Not a lot of room for error, slippery slope to becoming MACtastic..

We need all the Amo we can to get into the aac (or better?) and our recent hoop success ain't gonna have big football conferences clamoring.

I would have no problem with this hire. Miles, your judgement on this is from looking him up on the internet, not from seeing anything he has done or talking to people who have coached against him. His team was very organized in the first four game this year.

As for SG, trust me you don't want him...he isn't a good coach, he isn't well liked(Bills couldn't even look at him during the selection show this year), he's arrogant as hell and he has gone after multiple jobs in the last 5 years and no one will touch him. Rumor was he was willing to accept a 4 yr deal at 500k, 500k, 1mil, 1.5 mil to help with the buyout. Can't tell you how much you would hate this hire inside of 2 years.

Have you heard anything about Crean? I know it's the longest of longshots, but he hasn't landed anywhere yet (assuming he's not the next head coach of Georgetown or Dayton) and UMass would be a good place for him to rehabilitate his image in the eyes of P5 schools.
