JBUMass2011 wrote:Big10land I agree, I would be fine with the improvements that you say but idk if that's enough for AAC. The students are a joke for leaving after first quarter. It's embarrassing. Although I am leaning to Agree with eldon. Without a major plan and starting it now, we have 0 shot at AAC. Idc what they say on that board tho because ever Memphis fan would shit on other ppl like uconn or UCF about big 12 but boom Memphis was toast and other teams will worse facilities and sponsors are still in. I think UMass has a shot for sure. Our stadium for football is what puts us very far behind. Bball facilities would be maybe the best in AAC and or football training is very good for that conference but it's the fan support and stadium that isn't cutting it. If only one spot is available I don't feel good about UMass chances(BYU, Houston being added). But if 3 spots available (adding BYU Houston uconn and Cindy then we have a pretty solid chance because of replacing uconn plus our arguement if it was only 1 spot. Big12 needs to shake out soon
There are pictures of what they want McG to look like are out there, they are set up in the FPC.
Pictures are not plans, I get that, but the idea is there. If the AAC starts sniffing around Amherst, I'm sure those plans will surface and some donors will send a shinny new shovel to Swammys office.
UMass '10 but I run with the '06 class

The whole stadium/conference invite scenario is the classic chicken and egg conundrum. I see a lot of truth to eldonabes post.

If there are no funds to update/enlarge McGuirk in these funds then there won't be any upgrade for five years. Not good.

Not necessarily. But, likely, you're right.

Any extra state support for infrastructure is a good thing. Politically, a major renovation of the football stadium will need to be spearheaded by either a single big donor, or a successful campaign with lots of donors - likely both. If that happens, the school will find the extra money and make the stadium renovation work regardless of what is in this package.

I've commented on this before. Yes, TX State, SMU & North Texas have fine stadiums. But they have LOUSY teams and probably will for the foreseeable future.
There is a lesson to be learned here.......

You're just looking too deep for the answer. It's apparently that you can have a crappy football team playing in a nice stadium.

^ As we know it takes decades to imrprove a stadium, but should only take a few years to turn a program around.
