Beacause the rat's balls have already been given to follow the team in Europe.

^ I really wanted to let this thread die but that one really had me chuckling.
This is the most enjoyable losing season ever!
Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
College basketball expert .... yea, expert sure.... is doing team previews he was at Seton Hall today. Not one mention of Derrick Gordon in any of his tweets. Very odd. In his prediction on Seton Hall's starting five he has Isaiah Whitehead, Khadeen Carrington, Desi Rodriguez, Mike Nzei, Angel Delgado. he also mentions other players but conspicuously no Gordon. I also noticed today that Gordon's Twitter account is no longer active.

^ This report from yesterday has DG as the first player off the bench.

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
I wish the best for DG, but I still laugh every time he says the NBA draft is motivation for him. The only way he makes the NBA is if getting your shots blocked becomes a good thing.

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
I can't imagine he is very happy about not starting. Esp if he still has NBA draft dreams. How many players have ever got drafted who came off the bench on a mediocre middle of a pack team?
Not knowing all that went down at UMass but he said he left because he wanted to go to a school that would further help his NBA dreams. Had he stayed at Umass he'd be starting on a team that will be looking for offence so his minutes and scoring chances would have been better than he will get at SH.

Maybe he's working on his jumper? Be just our luck if he developed a great one for his last season at SH.Marshmont_63 wrote:I wish the best for DG, but I still laugh every time he says the NBA draft is motivation for him. He is almost 25 years old, his jump shot is what it is. He should be working on his resume and fine tuning his interviewing skills for life after basketball next summer.

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
It's not too late for him to hone his jumper. If he had a decent one, opponents no longer be able to sage off him. and that would help his offensive game. But, DG is what he is basketball wise; he's played at a high level for at least 10 years (AAU, high school, college, etc.) without a reliable jumper, and had success. So, why change?fenway617 wrote:He is almost 25 years old, his jump shot is what it is. i agree, DG should be concentrating on his studies, getting ready for life outside of the game.

His best bet is to hone is public speaking skills, if he plays his cards right he could make a nice career out of public speaking.

Good luck to him, but I for one don't particularly care. . .the fact he left has helped us tremendously in terms of a domino effect of the rest of our players and commitments.

I suspect that Derrick leaving got us Zach Lewis, don't you think?

Lewis can't play until next season. And I think they still have an unused scholarship. One isn't related to the other.

Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
Why do we care about Derrick Gordon. This thread is nonsense at this point in time. It had it's day, but that was long ago.
Re: KAEO: Derrick Gordon
^ Because he is part of the UMass legacy like every other player (heck, I did a search for "Stevesky" and came up with three hits, even after Mike's cleanup a few years back). Derrick had a rather unique story and I feel that UMass handled that story rather well. He chose to move on for whatever reasons and it is fun to hear what he is doing. Whether we want it to be good or bad is up to each reader. But it is nice to know.
