That's the way I'm looking at it. I'm not expecting UMass to do that well out of conference, but at some point, we'll be playing MAC teams, and hopefully by that point, we'll have our stuff together.
The defense does have to improve a lot though.

Im tired of watching us not improve from season to season. We returned everyone and look worse then last year. How is that even possible? Its getting kinda annoying.

The offense will be fine, a lot of rust and missed opportunities are keeping us from being in this game.
Defense is a lot more suspect than i expected with as many returning players as they have, but then again if the players who are coming back didn't improve......
Definitely a disappointing half of football mostly because of the missed opportunities, i'd imagine coach isn't too pleased with anything. The defense and special teams is going to have to make some plays if UMass is to get back into this.
UConn girls are........................... Huskies!!

Colorado may be a crappy P5 team, but they are still a P5 program and they are physically dominating the line of scrimmage. Next week will be a better test. Don't bail on this team after one road game.

We know the offense can't miss any opportunities with our defense the way it is. The offense missed 3 or 4 TD chances in the first have. We can't afford to do that.
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

Or we could do like they do at Chestnut Hill Comm. College and schedule two cupcakes to start the season at 2-0.

Or one half. Jesus, there's a whole 2nd half to play.

Whip will chew some butt watching the game films. I'm still positive about the season overall. Sharpe is a pleasure to watch!

There is a lot of football left. Win at least one OC game and we will be fine.

I don't think it's as bad as it looks. The run defense problem looks at least partially related to the defensive gameplan to me. Colorado is getting a lot of mileage slashing at vulnerable gaps off-tackle and off the edge. It doesn't look so much like we're getting shoved away on those plays as that we have very few bodies there in the first place. Maybe the coaches can plug those gaps.
