I'm hearing good things about:
http://www.wildwoodque.com/
Coming from RI...take the Mass Pike west to I-91 north. Get off at exit 19 and follow route 9 east across the Calvin Coolidge Bridge to the restaurant. It's less than 5 miles from the Mullins Center.
Here are directions from Wildwood to the game.

^ Good BBQ but it's back off the road and it won't be that easy for an out of towner to find on a bumper to bumper busy rte 9 on a Saturday afternoon. It's why I wouldn't send him uptown to Antonio's. Good pies but you're not just going to pull into a parking lot and hop out for a slice. Stick with University Drive. Easy in, easy out.

^ Yeah but he and whoever comes with him are coming to root
against UMass. Better he should be stuck in traffic.

Man he must have a tiny bathroom

It is tiny. Is Swampy NSA or something?

I don't take that personally. I would never recommend going to The Mews for instance if any of you are coming down to URI. Yeah the food is good and it's got 69 beers on tap, but it gets so crowded and I have a hard enough time getting in before and after games. Just better to find somewhere else!
Again, thank you all for the recommendations. While I'm at it, is there anything I should make a point of seeing in Amherst or on campus? The only time I've been to UMass was in 2001 for a football game, and I was just in and out for the game so I definitely didn't get a great feel for the area.

I'm glad that you didn't take that personally becuase I was kidding....hence the wink smiley.
When I was a student...back in the Dr. J era, a group of used to go to away games, including Keaney gym, regularly. Always a good time.
Amherst Center and Northampton are both good places to visit. School will just be getting started again so there ought to be a lot aof activity.
I came very close to going to URI. I got in early addmission, but ultimately decided to stay closer to home.

There's not alot going on in Amherst as far as I'm concerned. I'd send our URI fan to Northampton, except getting over there is no fun at all. Listen to Swampy, stay on University Drive. I like the ABC the best, but that's because on those rare occasions I make it to a game I'm travelling alone and I'm comfortable there. If you want to rub elbows with some of the galuts from this site then Rafters or the Hangar are for you.

How did pizza ever become a "pie"? Never understood that

^ Good guess, but it was actually Dean Martin.
